I've come to realize none of it matters. Labels are practically non-existent at my school, and I love it. Only time you're disliked is if you're a jerk or severely annoying which is maybe like 3 people in my grade.

nonetheless, basically just don't care what people say, and it's all good. I do kind of know what you mean. People act like owning all this stuff (let's use pokemon stuff) or seeing it as awesome. Guess people just let the kid in them out. A friend of mine wears a LOTR ring around his neck because he found it cheap, and most people I know like the movie. Everybody loves the ring thing. Not a big deal if you ask me.

It shouldn't really bother anyone, unless you're really self-conscious and someone's words get to you easily. And people so use the words geek/nerd nowadays. I go to this college-prep school who's campus is inside another normal high school, where people didn't really accept us for being in the program. It's getting better now since we've combined our sports & clubs, but there's still those kids who for whatever reason, retaliate with "So you're in University High? That's why you're such a nerd." or something along those lines.

Like Cameron said, it seems that labels are starting to disappear. Gaming is no longer only for nerds and there are even nerds who do athletics.
