How have your religious views/philosophy changed over the years?

What the title says. I was raised in a strict Christian household, and as a child was extremely religious up until I was about 15 or 16. I now see religion as a tool. It is exploitative and preys on the weak. Spirituality, on the other hand, is what religion tries so hard and fails to be. If you'd have asked me 5 years ago if the Bible was without error, I would have told you that every word of it was true. The problem is that it contradicts itself multiple times. I am not an atheist, however. I believe in God. I believe that Jesus died as the ultimate sacrifice, breaking the barrier between God and man. aside from the historical facts about Jesus' life, and other such facts in the Bible, I think it's pretty much full of errors, especially after being translated 15 billion times. People say "But it's the word of God!" No, it is not. It's the words of a whole bunch of humans. In the end, what is important is accepting Christ, having a relationship with God, and doing what is right. If the whole point of Christianity is to be "Christlike", then why do so many Christians use methods that Christ would never even consider using to spread his message? I guess since I beleive in God, and more importantly Jesus as Christ and Lord, I am technically a Christian, but I hate being bunched in with all the bigots.

What about you? How has your view changed throughout your life?

My view still hasn't changed, I'm a baptist and always will be. For those who don't know a Baptist is a christian with beliefs similar to Presbyterians. But yeah, of course not every word in the Bible is completely true. It is however the Word of the Lord. Whether it's completely factual or not is irrelevant, it is meant to serve as a book of teachings and a guideline for the Christian Religion to follow.

I don't particularly believe in God, Jesus, and the like. I do believe in certain things, and they have changed over the years. I can't quite put my finger on something specific right now though.

So you are agnostic then?

Over the last couple of years Zero has become more of an evolutionist and less of a christian, though he does still believe there is some sort of god out there.

...So basically agnostic.

Growing up, my parents called themselves Christian, but never took me to church or practiced Christian values. My mother had me before she was married, and continued to see other men after she was married, and didn't really care if my dad knew or not. So, as I grew up, I didn't believe in God and thought religion was a joke. I didn't think there was anything out there, and we all just lived, suffered, and died, and that was it.

I reached my breaking point as a teenager, when I struggled with suicide and self-mutilation. At this point my dad was remarried, and my new stepmother started taking us to church. I made good friends there and they helped me sort through my problems and opened the door for me to "meet" God for the first time, and it all changed after that. I can proudly call myself a true Christian now, say that I feel truly changed, and I live to serve God, since he saved my life. I don't care if anyone agrees with me or not, I just know I'm living to serve God, because I owe him everything.

So, if my answer wasn't apparent enough, I went from Atheist to Christian, quite the opposite of most people I know, who grew up in Christian homes, then decided they didn't believe in God anymore.

I wasn't much of anything back when I was younger. I had no real opinion or input or influence from anyone.

Today, I believe in a higher power, but I also believe that no religion, person, force or entity can/will ever comprehend or understand its existence, no matter the circumstances of it.

I'm not sure what you'd call that really. Even if I were, I would hesitate to use it definitively.
