Am I The Only One Who's Not a Fan of DLC?

It seems like every single thing in the gaming industry has a downloadable counterpart - add-ons, games themselves, bonus items. Some are free, but many actually have a price to pay. With the Nintendo 3DS having virtually their whole library available online for customers to buy, and them expecting people to actually buy them instead of a physical copy, I'm now convinced that this is the road the future of gaming has taken.....and guess what? No me gusta. The main reason is how unreliable the whole schpeal sounds (Yeah, I spelled schpeal. Sound it out.), what with gamers everywhere not having access to a stable online connection everywhere they go and whatnot. Just this weekend I thought I'd give it a go by trying to purchase Art Academy online just to receive a special version of the original Donkey Kong from Nintendo. I bought two eShop cards (The damn GameStop manager convinced me that the DSi ones work for 3DS eShops, and even though I insisted that it wouldn't, he practically forced me to buy them anyways). I got home, inputted the codes and OH WAIT they didn't work. Boohoo, so I go out of my way to tell the guy to give me two 3DS cards. After fighting with him, his friend, and half and angry mob of angsty gamers trying to get their paws on Black Ops II (Which I nabbed while I was there ^-^ [But for a friend o.e]), the guy said there were no more 3DS prepaid cards available. The best he could do was give me 50 bucks in store credit, enough for Art Academy. I didn't even want the game, I just wanted the downloaded version so I could get the exclusive Donkey Kong game, which needs to be earned and downloaded as well Excuse me for trying something new and failing at it miserably, but the whole "downloadable content" bit just doesn't appeal to me. Am I the only one? Am I destined to hate this new path for gamers? I know there's plenty of reasons why this is much better for a variety of gamers, but it just doesn't feel right for me! Maybe I'm being selfish.

tl;dr - You're suck a prick. If you're willing to click on this article, at least skim through what I've been rambling about for the last five or so minutes

That is all

I like DLC as long as it is actual good content that adds to the game in some way, but I hate the way developers now are like "Well, we can just release this game half finished and put out some DLC. We'll make more money that way anyway."

And to answer your thread topic, no. You are FAR from the only one.

Well I feel a little bit better.
And yes, that would make no sense either...kinda irritating actually.

Almost everyone on the internet hates DLC from what I can tell.

Personally I'm not against the idea DLC as long as it's done right, just look at Rockstar

This.

I think Nintendo's handled DLC well for NSMB2, but in general I think that so long as the content adds more to the game, like RDR's zombie campaign, for a good price, I don't complain.

It's also ok to have multiplayer map packs like Halo. The one thing I find absolutely a huge no no is on disc DLC. It is on the disc that I paid $60 for, so why don't I ****ing have it?

I don't mind DLC generally speaking, but I do indeed hate many developers' mentality towards it; yes, the number one goal of any business is to make money, but there's a point at which they just become flat out greedy. For some companies, I won't mention any names (Capcom), DLC is used as an excuse to release only a portion of the game, then charge for the rest of it. Which is bull. To me that's the same as releasing a DVD with only most of the movie on it, then you have to go online and pay for the rest of the movie scenes.

I like the premise of DLC when it's adding acutal extra content to a game, not when developers intentionally release it unfinished and charge for the rest of it.

^

It's pointless if its already on the disc. Just a business move which only the company profits from. I do like stuff added on later though.
