Pictures of my Final Fantasy V collection

My favorite SNES game is Final Fantasy V. I bought the Super Famicom version in 1992 at a video game store called Diehard Video Games which specialized in import games. There was also a Diehard video game magazine published by the owner of the store if anyone remembers. I struggled through the game even though I don't read Japanese. But I had played Super Famicom RPG's to be able to understand the menu and some of the weapons and items. I just talked to everyone in the towns and through trial and error I progressed in the game and finished it. I also bought some trading cards for the game put out by Square of Japan in 1992. These were available at a Japanese toy store in Yaohan in Los Angeles. I tried to put these items I scanned in pictures in the photo album here but I haven't been a member long enough to allow me to do that so I wanted to share the pictures here. They are of the box for the Super Famicom Final Fantasy V. The Super Famicom cart for the game. The cart for the Super Nintendo version and a couple of the trading cards put out by Square in 1992.

So I take it you didn't know japanese to play this? Being that you said you did trial and error :P

Got to say Final Fantasy V may be my favourite. Hard to pick between V & VII. I played V on GBA though. I have the ps1 version officially now, but my brother is borrowing it while I play origins (I & II) on Ps1.

Square Japan Final Fantasy V cards from 1992

I bought packs Final Fantasy V trading cards in 1992 from a toy store in Little Tokyo. There were cards of Final Fantasy V in the Final fantasy Art Museum 2nd edition series from 2000 but those are a lot easier to find than the original cards made in 1992. I wanted to scan some of my cards from 1992 to share with other Final Fantasy 5 fans here. I also scanned an unopened pack I have so you could see what the packs the cards came in looked like.

I'm going to merge this with you Fina Fantasy V Collection thread. No need for multiple topics on your collections.

Yes, I don't know japanese but i figured out the menu system and wrote down some of the characters so I could identify some of the weapons and Items. Plus a big help was I bought the Japanese Strategy guide books for the game. The books had maps of the towns, caves, towers, dungeons and pictures of the items and weapons with their Japanese character identifications so I could identify them in the game.

Interesting. Yeah, I love strategy guides, always so cool to even just look at. Sadly the only strategy guide I ever had (DK64) is gone.

Have you tried translated versions of the game, or the GBA/PS1 ports?
