The Hobbit

Ok...i just had to make this thread because i loved the movie.
I am a LotR fan (not hyper fan but i love the series) and I went to the premiere today.
I personally LOVED the movie and It made me my year.
Now, I have heard people complaining about Peter Jackson's idea to divide the movie into three parts and Alot more other people trying to make me compare it to the LotR Trilogy.
I want to hear your opinions guys.
Now, for mine. I loved the idea of making it a trilogy for the fact that the adaptation they are making is TOO DAMM GOOD. They are including almost every detail of the story.
And the other thing is that you Cannot compare the movie to other the LotR trilogy for the fact of how the story is narrated diferently on both series. Its a completly different kind of story.

I was one of the people who thought the film might would probably not work as a trilogy, but after seeing the movie, I changed my mind completely. The film has excellent pacing. It does have some filler,
Spoiler
(for example, the entire side-plot with Radagast the Brown I felt was unnecessary and just used to pass time)
but overall, it was a great movie. The goblin scenes were my favorite part, they did such a great job animating those. I would definitely recommend anyone who is on the fence to go see it, I'm 85% sure you won't be disappointed.

I loved the LotR films, so when they announced The Hobbit, I was absolutely elated. Even moreso when they announced that it would be a trilogy.

I haven't seen An Unexpected Journey yet, but I hope to sometime before Christmas Day.

If you actully think about it, In the books, Gandalf actually talks about meeting with him so it is a good touch for them to include it

Is it worth it if you haven't actually seen The Lord of the Rings, or would I just be shunned from the theatre altogether?

If you like the high fantasy stuff, then you'll love the Hobbit. The greatest thing The Hobbit and LotR is that, while the Hobbit is a prequel and LotR mentions things from The Hobbit, you don't have to read or watch either one before you read/watch the other to not enjoy it.

...So to answer your question like a normal person, yeah, I'd say it's worth it.

will this prequel movie have trilogy like LOTR before ?

I do enjoy this kind of movie, but not a big fan of it.

I do remember he was mentioned a little bit, but the whole thing about the necromancer sword is definitely new. It just seemed like it was filler, the whole thing with the giant spiders (I know they will show up again in Mirkwood) seemed a little odd to me.

Not really. Since the movie is a prequel to the other films, you don't really need to know much about the Lord of the Rings trilogy to understand the movie. I think it does a good job at explaining everything for people who haven't read the book. The beginning even gives you a lot of detail that is not present in the book. Peter Jackson said that he used a lot of information from other sources other than the book to make the movie, so some of it was new, even to me. I would definitely recommend you go see it.
