It's Konata's birthday tomorrow (well it is technically now since it just turned midnight here) and I let him have his presents combined with Christmas because I'm soft. However, I kept this and wanted it to be a surprise. It isn't as much of one as I wanted it to be since he knows about it, but he still doesn't know what it is. I also told him not to read this thread.
His favourite games are Bioshock and Bioshock 2, so for a while I've been thinking of drawing/painting something from there. It's not great, and I could say a list of problems but that would seem a bit stupid really.
I used oil paints, which can be quite tricky sometimes but that depends where your strong point is in painting. I'm better with oils than acrylics or watercolours. Acrylics are thin and dry too quickly, which is good and bad, bad because you can't get much layering in there and you can't work into the paints as much. With oils, even though they are messy and thick, the thickness makes it take quite a few days or weeks to dry depending on the size or amount of paint you used, but the thickness also allows you to blend more and layer it up.
It looks quite different to the actual logo since the logo was created on a computer and I had to have the brightness turned up on my laptop, so the colours may look brighter here. It definitely isn't perfect, but I think it's decent for the whole weekend it took - including late nights, pretty long hours at least. It's also small, just a bit bigger than an A4 piece of paper. For my art project last year it took me about 19 hours to do something I had to submit the next day which was much bigger.
Anyway, just cross your fingers for me in the hopes that he likes it.
