Video Game Assosciation

Just like songs and movies, sometimes a game becomes tied to a particular date, occasion, season or time in your life. Maybe it's just the time you first played it, or maybe there is a significant event that took place around that time.

Here's how it will work:

-I'm going to post a game that makes me thing of a particular time.
-the next poster tells what my game makes them think of, and then also posts a new game of their own.
-It flows from there in a continuous pattern.

Be sure to give details. Everyone loves a good story. If you haven't played a particular game, just say what it makes you think of, if anything.

(you don't have to post an image, but I like to make things pretty. lol)

Super Smash Bros. Mellee makes me think of 6th grade and high school. I was first introduced to Melee in 6th grade by my friend Andy. I almost can't believe how horrible I was back then. I didn't own the game until a year later, and I had switched schools. It was my first Gamecube game and my friend Jeffrey used to come over everyday after school. We spent more time taking turns unlocking everything than playing against one another, at least at first. I remember one day in particular, it was storming terribly bad and school let out early. My grandmother picked us both up and we just stayed in my room all night playing Melee since he couldn't go home in the rain.

SSBM makes me think of sitting in my old apartment with a couple of my roommates and a friend. I always played with Zelda (still do) and he pointed out that I never hold down B to make the thing go farther or make it change directions. I felt so stupid, but no one had ever told me before.

First time playing this, I remember being shocked when they showed my character and what I thought was dog ears in the first installment was actually hair! (I ended up with the same character, actually the female in that^ pic.) I always thought the girls were dogs and the boys were like bulls or something.

Animal Crossing reminds me of new year 2009. I stayed in and played animal crossing online with 3 other people, and we took screenshots of us while the fireworks started for the start of new year.

I can't get a picture because the iPad is playing up.

The game is Starcraft 1.

This reminds me of my first year of college. My friend had got a copy we could all put onto our college laptops, and we could play against each other while we were at college. It was always funny seeing about 15 people just sitting in the common room with their laptops out in game.

StarCraft doesn't remind me of much. I only ever played it once, and didn't care for it.

Paper Mario reminds me that just because a game is old, that doesn't mean it can't be mind blowingly good. When I first played this game, it was at my friends house (yes, the same friend as my last post). The Gamecube had been out a year at this point and I'd never heard of Paper Mario,. In fact, Super Mario 64 and the NES Super Mario Bros. were the only Mario games (unless Smash Bros. counts) that I'd played at that point. IT has become one of my absolute favorite games, and I play through it annually (at least). It never gets old.

Paper Mario was a game that I received when I was 7 during Christmas, under five layers of friggin' gift wrap. The expression I had when I finally got done trolling and laid eyes on the game was star-striking. I immediately started the game, which had a previous game that started in the fourth chapter and just started playing on that for funsies. One of those nostalgic Christmas feelings I get.

I dare to venture that everybody on this site has played this game. What makes this special for me, though, was my holiday break during sixth grade. My cousin's stepfather had a heart attack during a camping trip, and they decided to send him down to my place for a week. Then on, we started Super Mario World, and we consistently took turns with Mario and Luigi, trying to complete the game 100% for the first time for both of us. Those were some good times.

Super Mario World was my first Mario game, my first Nintendo game, heck my first video game. In the late 90's when my cousins would come over we would all be gathered around the SNES passing the remote whenever somebody died. So many pleasant memories, it was a barrel of fun.

Mario Kart 64 was my go-to game whenever company came over. When I was a little kid I was an extremely sore loser; if my opponent was so far ahead of me that I would not be able to ever catch up, I slammed the RESET button on the console. It eventually got to the point where my Mom had to supervise me and my friends when we played the game so that I couldn't do that. Guess I really hated to lose (still do, but I guess I'm just much more mature about it).
