Talking Iron Man 3 or Man of Steel?

To my fellow superhero geeks, which film are you anticipating to see more this spring/summer season?

It seems like more people than not are more pessimstic about Man of Steel, but I look forward to it. I would say overall I can't wait to see Man of Steel more, but Iron Man 3 also looks pretty cool, and many are hoping it will wash the taste out of their mouth left behind by Iron Man 2.

I don't like Superman, but I haven't seen Iron Man 2. So I may not watch either of them. But if I had to, I'd choose Iron Man.

Iron Man 2 wasn't as good as Iron Man, but it was still hellaciously fun.

I'm excited for both, but considering I love me some Tony Snark instead of prissy perfect Supes, I'm erring more on the side of IM3.

Man of Steel for me. It's time for DC super heroes movies to be at the top.

Batman had a pretty strong hold on the box office in its eight-year run.

I think he meant it's time for more DC heroes to be on top. Green Lantern bombed and Superman Returns wasn't as well recieved as they'd hoped. I too am hoping that DC can make a cinematic universe that competes with Marvel's as well.

I think the problem with Green Lantern was that to me, it seemed to feature that layer of just sheer unbelievability shared with Marvel's Fantastic Four films. It was all flash, no substance. I knew the characters had different pathos about them in FF, and with superheroes that's part of great character development; it's just that the movies didn't feel to do the characters any justice.

Contrast this with Superman, who, you just know is going to be Mister Perfect and fly around and save everyone. I'm sorry, but that, to me, is a boring character. Superman faces his fair share of problems but at the end of the day he does something.....super.....and then everyone forgets whatever the problem was in the first place.

I really hope Man of Steel actually puts in place some decent personal problems, something to make him more relateable, because so far everything about the movie looks great.

I really liked Iron Man 2. I think the series as a whole has a great progression of not only story but character. In the first film, he is a fiendishly wealthy, almost sinister manufacturer of deadly weapons, but through a traumatic experience that puts him on the other side of the spectrum and to see the damage he has done. Then he becomes Iron Man and everything's super sweet.

But although the first film shifted his moral code, his character was essentially the same. He was still self-obsessed, charismatic and arrogant (in the coolest way possible). The second film dealt with his family, friends, and relationships, in having to confront the issue that he does need help with his condition. The Invincible Iron Man has a fatal weakness that is slowly killing him, and he needs the support of the people closest to him, or else he will die.

The Avengers forced Tony into playing for a team. Taking orders, co-operating, trusting those he did not know - this was all hugely different stuff for Stark. He was suddenly not the only one with the potential to save the world. And, as you know, this lead to huge deal of tension in the Avengers group (along with everyone else's personal demons, which is for a later time). Ultimately, Iron Man had to overcome his pride and work together with Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Hawkeye, not to mention all of SHIELD. If you haven't seen the Avengers yet, don't click this spoiler:
Spoiler
Stark paid (or at least, intended to pay) the ultimate sacrifice, killing himself so that millions could live. He did the most selfless thing a person could do, which significantly shows his character development since the first movie. He didn't even get the last word in, with Pepper not answering her phone.

The events in New York were a massively sobering experience for Tony, and it definitely looks like Iron Man 3 is heading in the perfect direction for him. So much of his world is changing, and it looks like his time at the top is at an end. While the movies are definitely sequels, and each contain their own distinct stories, I'm loving the gradual overall progression.

tldr - Iron Man was awesome, Iron Man 2 was awesome, Avengers was awesome, and Iron Man 3 will be awesome.

With Nintenduendo's argument against Superman, and AotA's argument for Iron Man, I'd be an idiot not to agree.
Iron Man 3 all the way. DC needs to get their act together, and hopefully Man o' Steel is the way to do that, but Marvel won me over years ago.
