what makes you passionate about video games?

The last few months I found myself EXTREMELY busy. Starting a new business, new relationship, new apartment. I actually didn't get time to play any video games for a month or so. I found myself playing dota 2, or Counter strike cause it was easiest. I am currently updating my wiiu and 3ds and am trying so hard to get that passion i once felt for Nintendo back :S. I don't know whats wrong with me but was hoping that a few peoples responses could make me remember why I love Nintendo so much. I know I do. So..What continues you to be passionate about nintendo and video gaming in general?

Gaming is my escape. I love games with a deep story I can get lost in, but I also love fighting games for the competitive side of things. As for Nintendo, I don't really know. the only one of their series that was a part of my childhood was Pokemon, though Smash Bros. is probably the defining game of my teenage years.

By playing the games I truly want to play first, and going back and trying the games I didn't really like, again, and seeing if I like it or not. If a game wastes my time and makes me run around doing pointless shit, not giving me any insentive on if I'm going anywhere, I usually kick that game. Ironically, Persona is a game that I'm truly digging, and all I'm doing is running around this tower, killing enemies, but it's like they are preparing you for something. It gives you that drive to keep going! I hate games that do the same things, over and over again, with no intensive. Fallout 3 makes you wander around in the world without any clear indication of where you're going, whilst Castlevania is just run and survive. (No Symphoiny of the Night, "run around aimlessly and level up until you find what to do" crap.) It feels good, and makes you want to keep playing.

Basically my passion for gaming depends on games that make you feel accomplished in some way, whilst having fun doing it, and getting something out of it in the long run.

As for actually going to PLAY a game, I have a hard time turning on Final Fantasy because I feel like I'm going to have to read it and pay attention to get the best out of it. So I know the feel of preferring to play a game that's easy to pick up.

What makes me passionate for games is a game that can get me hooked onto whatever it is it's presenting me on, and then keep me engaged with fun, challenging and engaging gameplay. I think that's why I love Nintendo so much, because whenever I see their games, I'm like, "Wow, that looks so cool! Oh, you can do that in that game?!" and then I actually get it and get hooked on the story, the characters, the music, and the gameplay. Overall it leaves me incredibly satisfied, and I love when a game does that.

The industry just keeps getting better in terms of tech and accomplishments. I love studying the behind the scenes work that goes into it, and I actually really like how it's beginning to blur the line between other mediums.

Sometimes I get burned out on certain types of videogaems, or just gaming in general. When that happens I usually only play fighters for a while and/or focus my interest on some of my other hobbies or just simply living life. After a while, the interest and motivation bounces back. Sometimes you just need a long break from certain things to learn to appreciate them again. That's how I'm built anyway.

I'm the exact same way, i go from hardcore gamer to just a guy that casually plays fighting games (well i might add) depending on how sociable i'm feeling.

I'm the same way. I tend to circulate between gaming, watching anime, and reading.
