ESRB fails

Also, there is a PS1 game called Heart of Darkness that received an E rating. There is not gore, but the deaths scenes can be quite disturbing, and involve a child character.

can anyone think of more examples in which the ESRB (or whatever your local rating system is) failed to properly rate a game?

Heart of Darkness is such a great game. I remember it having 3D glasses.

As for bad ratings, I can't really think of any right now.

Honestly, I think Halo being rated M is stupid. there is minimal blood, and most of the time it's purple, orange, or blue unless you're playing multiplayer. Even then, it's just specs. thee really isn't any adult content either - the worst thing they say is "damn".

This game (<-- click it) is rated T for some unknown reason (it says "mild violence) on the back of the box). I have it and I've played it and there's really nothing that makes it a T. I'm almost certain that it would be an E10+ were it released today, but whatever. It's kind of like a not so interesting party game set in Universal Studios.

Oh yeah I saw that, a friend of mine had it. I assumed it was a typical theme park game with a few mini games.

I truly don't understand how the Persona series gets an M rating.
I would think a T would suffice with something like that.

I think they have to for P4 because of the alcohol parts. I can't remember if there was anything like that in P3 though, and the EU version of P2 is a 12+. Speaking of Persona, I can't wait for P1 remake on 3DS.

P1 Remake? Damn!
I've not made it too far in P3 thus far, but I don't think it'll escalate that far from here.
I unno.
I suppose the concept of the Evoker, aka killing yourself, might send of some mixed feels. As well as this

But still, i think T might even work.
Aw well

Technically, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl would more than likely fall under the E10+ rating. At least, that's what I always thought. E10+ was established well after Melee's launch, though.

Back in the old days games could generally get away with more and still have an E rating. Like in the original Crash Bandicoot, if it were released today it would probably be T just because one of the bosses is a gangster with a tommy gun.

I actually find that more often than not the ESRB tends to rate games as though they contain more mature content than they actually do. I'm not really sure why Smash Bros Melee and Brawl are "T".
