Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U

Quote:
You Can Now Use Your GameCube Pad On Your Wii U
Posted Wed 5th Jun 2013 02:30 by Damien McFerran

Isn't modern technology just wonderful?
One of the hidden talents of the original Wii console was support for GameCube controllers, but sadly this functionality was removed from the Wii U along with the ability to play GameCube discs.

For those of you who simply can't let go of that beloved Wavebird, help is at hand. Mayflash a company famed for its weird and wonderful unofficial peripherals has produced an adapter which plugs into the Wii U and allows you to connect GameCube pads.

Retailing on Amazon for $16.99, the adapter offers the following:
- Built-in Turbo
- Compatibility with all games supported by the Wii Classic Controller
- Compatibility with all games supported by the Wii Classic Controller Pro
- A, B, X, Y, L, R and Z can be customized
Will you be picking one of these up, or is the Wii U Pro Controller just fine for your needs?

Someone shared this on Facebook, and it's actually a very misleading product. IF you read carefully, it justs like that Interworks controller I reviewd. I says "Wii U compatible" but in the end, it's only compatible with games that support the WII CLASSIC CONTROLLER, NOT THE WII U PRO CONTROLLER. In other words, the Gamecube controller would act as a Wii Classic controller. That means you could use it with some Wii U games, such as Tekken or Sonic Racing would support the Gamecube controller. Meanwhile, other games such as Arkham City, Darksiders, ZombiU, and most games that don't support the Wii Classic controller would NOT support the Gamecube controller.

The only real applications I can see for this device is using Gamecube controllers with Brawl, which is fantastic, and also when the Gamecube hits virtual console, sales will likely skyrocket. But once again, this product is misleading.

If they ever put GCN games on the the Wii U VC, it'll more than likely be Wii U Pro compatible only.
