I used to play games a hell of a lot when I was younger, and enjoyed multiplayer with friends mostly. Over the last few years of highschool, and then my 2 years at college, I kinda stopped playing games unless it was multiplayer and rarely finished campaigns. I still have a huge backlog from those years. Recently though I've been playing a lot of games almost everyday, and actually completed the good majority that I bought. I try to take in everything with bigger games like Fallout but I noticed I rush through some.

When I was a kid I never played games seriously, or considered myself a gamer. Unless it was Pokemon, I had no idea what I was doing. I had some pretty great games, I just never knew how to play them, until I got older and understood the value of it. (Like in HM 64. I spent all my money and had the faintest idea of where to get more, but now HM 64 is my favorite in the series!)

Recently I play lots of games, not really competitively, most of the games I like are platformers, like Banjo-Kazooie or Mario, and Harvest Moon. FPS games aren't my thing. I like to play games to relax for the most part, and I can't relax when I'm looking around for snipers or shooting space aliens and such. Petting my cow and fishing? Yes, that is far more relaxing. xD

I do like some fantasy games though, I'm quite fond of Final Fantasy spinoffs and Rune Factory. Strategic RPGs are good, too. I'm a perfectionist though, I must have everything. Every recipe, every item, everything. It can make playthroughs long and tedious because of that. xD

I'm a homebody. Unless one of my good friends wants to go out and do something, I like to spend most of my down time in the peaceful solitude of my own house gaming, writing, or any of my other vices. So when I get a game I am the type to blow through it. I was never really the type to explore every single inch of the game world, but rather complete all the missions and finish the story soon as possible which is why I prefer very linear games to open world games.

That's mainly why my favorite genres are Racing and Fighting; the experiences are different each time because each match is different depending on how the opponent plays. Even before online multiplayer became as big as it currently is, replaying single player campaigns was just kind of meh for me as the experience is largely the same each time. But that's just me.
