Opinions/Reviews on the PS3 Super Slim?

Hey guys. I was wondering if those if you who own or have extensive experience with the PlayStation 3 Super Slim model could provide a comprehensive breakdown on it. My original model PS3 just YLOD'd on me (again) so I am looking into a brand new one on either black Friday or if not Christmas. The first model I had was a PS3 Slim that came out in I think '09, I got it for Christmas in 2010 and it never really gave me any problems until it crashed this past July which I believe was caused by a mandatory firmware update from Sony. I took it to a shop but it could not be repaired for a reasonable price because the USB ports were both broken so I figured it was cheaper to replace the console. Found a pre owned original model for pretty cheap but now it has YLOD on me for the second time (you get what you pay for), so now I just need a brand new console.

The reason I ask for thoughts is because I hear that the Super Slim was very cheaply made, runs kind of loud and has iffy hardware? Whereas my original slim performed beautifully and hummed quietly. But I figure the 250 GB model that comes bundled with a game is perhaps not a bad deal (and I like the blue one).

It has the similarities like slim PS2 console , it runs loud noise as the vents get smaller from the back & warm quickly in a matter minutes.

The only good side that I like is easy cleaning from the inside the the top-loader disc to clean the lens as I take major note on this one.

If I were you, I'd pick this one compared to slim PS3.

How loud and persistent is the noise from the vents? Is it distractingly loud and does it usually last for a long time during play?

the noise is like buzzing sound. really loud as it could be annoying for some people.

I suggest if you decide to go for super slim PS3, play in limited time of 3-4 hrs max just to avoid unnecessary causes & don't put the system in narrow space as the system needs to 'breathe' air.

I'm not sure yet as it can be lasting long as I haven't read any major problems yet. Most PS3 owners who own super slim PS3 complain about its loud noise.

It ain't loud at all? Whachu talking about?

I love mine, it's not really loud if anything it's more quiet then the original. It's light and easy to maintain as well as move around.

I love it, haven't had a problem thus far. Plus it just looks so sexy

I have the regular slim and it's noisy as hell. Even Killua complains about the noise when we voice chat while I'm playing it. >.<

Yeah, are you sure you don't have the slim Elo? The super slim is actually very quiet.

It looks like this:http://www.cromaretail.com/blog/wp-c...826448ed_k.jpg

I have the slim one, not super slim Killua. The slim runs quieter than super slim. A friend of mine upgraded his fat into super slim that I heard couple of times hearing buzzing sound within 30 minutes of playing game.

Zero has owned the red God of War super slim model PS3 since it came out, after accidentally knocking over his old, faithful gunmetal gray MGS4 PS3 (R.I.P, old friend). It runs more quiet than the original fatboy PS3, though Zero can't compare it to the first slim as he never owned one of those. It also doesn't get as hot; Zero assumes this is due to the cooler-running chip, hence why there is not a fan in the system. It's smaller, lighter, and it lacks a slot-loading disc drive, so in that sense it is more cheaply made but those are more or less cosmetic aspects... It doesn't necessarily mean that it's not as good of or better quality on the inside, which is what counts because you want your investment to last as long as possible. While Zero is certainly not an old hat when it comes to console hardware, common sense says that the latest models should be more reliable than those of the past since Sony have had years now to troubleshoot and fine tune the inner workings of the PS3. Zero leaves his running for days at a time fairly often, plays for up to 8 or 9 hours straight on some days, and has never had a single problem.

I disagree Elo my super slim runs much quieter than the original or regular slim. And I leave it on for hours and hours at a time, running netflix and playing music stuff like that.

In fact here's this:

Notice the only time the super slim makes any noise at all is when the disc is first being read, after it's done with the initial spinning the noise completely stops and it becomes practically silent.

I mean the slim does the same thing they both really aren't noisy in any sense. Especially compared to my old 360. So either way the slim or super slim are both quiet and good choices Bran.
