Jak & Daxter Games

Every time I go to play Jak II, I remember why I haven't played it in a while. Some of these minigames and vehicle challenges are ridiculous, and it's back to back.I am starting to think I didn't miss much as a kid having picked GameCube instead because these games would have crushed my soul. Playing the HD collection on Vita.

It seemed like the first game in series like Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Crash, & Spyro, were great and had barely any gimmick stages such as racing stages or arena stages. Then in the sequels they slowly put more and more in. Crash 3 for example has so many gimmick stages where you play as Coco or it's one of those arena battle mini games taking the place of a proper level. Same with the other series I mentioned.

The level where you ride the tiger as Coco is awesome. The other one where she's in the water sucked. It took me far longer than it should have as a kid to get to the next stage because of that level.

I didn't play the Jak and Daxter games, but I'd be willing to try out the first one, if it has less gimmicks.

I played Jak & Daxter 2 first, infact it was my second PS2 game after Tony Hawk 3 (so many hours unlocking the darth maul <3) I went back and played Precursors Legacy later and i preferred JAK II. Perhaps for nostalgia but nothing beat roaming the city on that hoverboard. Was like a kids GTA

JAK 3 was just more of the same, and the whole light JAK thing was craazy.

I'm still holding out for that sequel.

Overall I do like Jak II more than PL, which seems to be a minority opinion, but the gosh darn vehicle challenges...

Anyways I prefer TPL over the other Jak games. The world in TPL is open-ended, large, and colorful. The gameplay was fun, and it felt really original. The other two games keep some of TPL's charm intact but a lot of it feels like it hacked pieces off of other games and sewed it onto the series. Jak II and 3 are good games, but they lack in comparison to TPL.

I've heard really good things about the series. Maybe I'll give it a try one day. I was more of a Ratchet & Clank girl at the time. Did they ever bring it over to the PS3 or did it die with PS2?

The trilogy has been rereleased and upscaled to HD in the HD Collection, both for PS3 and Vita.

Protip: get the PS3 version. The framerate is worlds better.

What he said, Jak & Daxter Collection is kind of sucky on Vita due to a bunch of performance issues and iffy controls.

Yup I planned on getting it on vita but ended up with the PS3 version. It's a load of fun.

Also, I vaguely remember Naughty Dog saying they may not have finished with the series yet but it isn't what they want to work on at this moment.
