Modding the Wii menu of a Wii U

So I never modded my Wii because it has a lot of sentimental value. My great grandmother got up at like 4 AM and stood in a line to get it for me at launch without telling me at all. I would go ham if something happened to it.

That said, I bought my Wii U on my own with my own money, and if something on it ****s up , mad as I'll be, I won't feel bad about it. Can the normal wii hacks be performed via the Wii U's Wii emulation mode?

Well there's always a possibility of bricking a system if you don't know what you're doing. I'm sure there are guides out there to follow so that doesn't happen. Though from what I've heard it works pretty flawlessly, just like the Wii. Shouldn't have any trouble if you follow a guide.
