Strange Flash Drive Question

My old man has a computer but he doesn't care about going online. He uses it just to play movies. He got me to burn some movies for him. 3 out of 4 couldn't be read. The computer already has Windows XP installed. My guess is that he is missing certain codecs on his computer. A friend of his gave him a flash drive with stuff on it that will allow his computer to read any format of any movie. What I need to know is will his computer still install what's on the flash drive even though he's not connected to the internet? I've never used a flash drive before. How exactly to I add the contents of the flash drive to a computer that's not connected to the internet?

Thanks for viewing.

As long as the programs on the flash drive don't need to download anything it should be fine.

Pretty much what SGC said. If the programs don't require internet which most don't, the files should open and run just fine. Burning them to a disc is an entirely different cup of tea, usually requiring a CD rewrite drive.

It's actually quite bizarre that you've never used an external HD by now. But yeah, like those guys said.
