The Conduit Preview

Published by: SEGA
Developed by: High Voltage Software
Console: Nintendo Wii
Release Date: (US) March 2009 (EU) TBA (Japan) TBA
Genre: First-Person Shooter

Storyline:

The Conduit revolves around an alien invasion of Washington, D.C. in the near future. The alien race uses the eponymous Conduits, which are portal-like devices, to deploy their forces throughout the city. An organization called the Trust sends Mr. Ford, a newly inducted agent, into the area to discover the reasons for the attack.

Overview:

This is one of the year's highly anticipated games for the Wii. The Conduit was first announced by IGN on April 17, 2008, and after a couple months, October 29, 2008 the developer announced that Sega had signed on to be the game's official publisher.

Gameplay:

The game is a first-person shooter game. The game offers customizable control features like the ability to change camera speed. Player can change maximum running speed and the layout of the game's HUD; the elements of the HUD can be moved to different locations around the screen or removed entirely. The Conduit is Wii MotionPlus compatible. Players will get an item called the All-Seeing Eye or ASE. ASE can detect hidden traps and enemies scattered throughout a level, and reveal secret features in the environment that can help the player to progress, such as uncovering invisible doors and platforms and other interactive.

Let's talk about campaign mode. The single-player campaign mode of The Conduit will consist of nine missions. The story will be told through many cutscenes. Television and radio broadcasts will also be scattered across a mission area for the player to seek out.

Wifi Features:

The online multiplayer feature of the game includes several game modes such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag modes and will have voice chat capability through the Wii Speak peripheral. The Conduit will be the first third-party game to use the Wii Speak attachment.

Cast:

John Adams

Mr. Ford

Prometheus is a terrorist in the videogame.

The Conduit is an alien race called the Drudge. There four main types: Mites, Drones, Skimmers, and Scarabs.

I agree, remember how awesome Red Steel first looked at E3? We had all been expecting epic sword fights and shoot outs, but instead we got the mediocre kind of shooter. With this, it does look could... For a Wii game. But I just want to know more about the engine they have for it, gameplay performance, etc.

Also I don't want the same ol' alien shoot em up game.

Yeah, Red Steel is actually what has caused me to be so weary of games now. They can look and sound great, but then you end up getting overly-pumped for them, and they just fall short.

Such was also the case for Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Blast Works. Not saying that they're bad games, but I was so pumped for them and followed them for months (in Brawl's case, about two years) before they came out, and now I find that I don't play them much at all, and I can't be bothered to complete any of them to 100% yet.
