The Beatles

The Beatles were one of the most successful bands. The World knew who The Beatles were and because of this, Rock was highly influenced by The Beatles as well and spread the name of Rock pretty much across the World along with their name. Basically, alot of bands possibly exist today because of The Beatles influence on rock. They were just badasses.

So, who here besides myself is a Beatles fan or just likes em?

Rock?
Badass?
Have you actually listened to The Beatles?

Don't get me wrong, they're one of my favorite bands, but those aren't the exact words I would use to describe them...
They started as pop music, and I guess you could say that they were a rock group later, but what about classics like Eleanor Rigby, Across the Universe, Hey Jude, Within You, Without You, or a zillion other songs that aren't exactly "rock'n", but are still amazing songs?
And the Beatles are hardly badass. Cool as hell, maybe, but definitely not B.A.

The Beatles have some good songs but I don't see why they were so epic. Okay, so they apparently inspired a lot of other bands but I still don't see the big deal with them.

Anyhow, people seem to misconstrue Pop as a genre of slow music. Pop means Popular Culture, and Rock is a type of [Pop]ular music. Elvis had created of The Beatles.

If you read about the history of The Beatles, it will tell you how they were one of the hugest influences in rock history. I didn't say it's for sure that rock bands wouldn't exist, I'm saying it's a probability. Nobody was really paying the biggest attention to Rock besides The Beatles then coincidentally other bands starting liking Rock, biggest coincidence ever though eh? Anyhow, if you read the history of The Beatles, you'll learn alot about why they were a great band and how they helped influence the World in a positive way, I mean, I'm pretty sure that Sir Paul McCartney didn't get knighted for no reason.

You can't really make that statement. If you read the history on them, then you'll figure out that why they weren't overrated sir. Plus, most rock was influenced directly (Yes, I can say that because it is a fact, don't believe me? Look it up in a Beatles biography book if you want) by the Fab Four.

A little history lesson:

American Musician, Elvis Presley was the one who had pretty much came up with the idea of Rock Music (No, not completely), which is why he is "The King" of rock. Anyhow, The Beatles were influenced by Elvis Presley. The Beatles even gave a visit to Elvis Presley because of his influence and were quite excited by it as well.

Anyhow, because of Elvis's influence on Rock, it spread only somewhat (Mostly in America) where it influenced The Beatles. The Beatles became a huge influence on Rock music (Yes, they did, it's an actual fact that they did, they didn't make Pop music popular because that would be rhetorical since Pop music means Popular music, and Rock was a type of Pop Music).

They had went to America to make their career. The Beatles have the biggest commercial success. Anyhow, The Beatles started to compete with The Rolling Stones in a sense. The influence of The Beatles helped to influence sub genres of rock including even Metal. (Yes, they did influence Metal believe it or not, maybe not directly, but they did so nonetheless along with many other genres). The British influenced had happened because of the huge success of many English Bands that were coming to America (Two major ones being The Beatles and The Rolling Stones).

Enough history lesson though, chances are Led Zeppelin were influenced by The Beatles in some huge way, as a matter a fact if I recall, Led Zeppelin hanged out with The Beatles sometimes and in one song Jimmy Paige even makes a little Beatles reference in a song for George Harrison.

Ok, first of all, neither Elvis or The Beatles invented rock n roll. They stole it.
Second, I said I love the Beatles, and I have read books and even done reports on them. You didn't have to list a whole bunch of songs to prove how much you like them...I just listed my four songs as popular examples of why they weren't rock music.
Can we at least agree they were awesome and defied all genres?

And to all the people who think Led Zep is better....what? Go buy a Beatles CD you uncultured swine, and not Beatles 1(their #1 hits). Check out Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper, or even better, The Beatles Anthology: Vol. 2.

Zep was ok, but incomparable to the Beatles.
