Super Mario World 2.

Super Mario World 2. is the erm PREQUEL... PREEEEEQUEEEEL of Super Mario... Erm... Yeah... It pretty much goes back to the days of Mario being a baby. The story is that Mario and Luigi are being delivered by the Stork and the delivery goes very wrong when the stork is attacked and baby Luigi is kidnapped. Mario falls from the sky and lands safely on a Yoshi because the laws of physics don't apply to Mario World. Anyhow, the Yoshis see the little baby Mario and decide to help him out because they're cool like that.

The art style is one thing I must talk about first... They use a more fuzzy and fun style, it's suppose to have more of a cartoonish depth upon it which really worked well. Anyhow, moving on. You control Yoshi since Mario is still a baby and can't do much. The game involves you choosing from an option of stages by choosing little square boxes instead of moving on a map (Which they do automatically on the map showing that the baby is being passed on to the next Yoshi).

Alright, so here's how you play. Yoshi eats his enemies then creating an egg in which Yoshi can throw in different directions, though the controls are tricky at first. Anyhow, if you get hit, the baby Mario floats away and if the number on the screen hits 0, Baby Mario goes bye bye so try to get him back as fast as possible. You can also gain abilities by sucking in watermelons, spitting their seeds and using other different abilities. Yoshi has the ability to double jump and stomp as well. At some points, you get the ability to transform into vehicles while Mario waits in a little bubble while you do what you have to do in your weird new form.

Now, some of you who most unlikely haven't played this game are probably asking... "What about Mario? Can't you control the baby?" Yeah, you can, you can get little bonus parts sometimes or parts where Baby Mario has to turn into Super Baby Mario, running up walls, upside down, wearing his cute little cape... or is that a bib? Anyhow, the game pretty much went all out and still maintains it's creativity.

The music is good too, nothing I'd say is epic or something like that, it takes alot to impress me with music, but it's still good and fits well is gives a kind of feeling that fits in with it's art style.

It's a very interesting game, in my opinion. I have the remake on the GBA that I beat. I also have Yoshi's Island DS, but I barely got to World 2.

I love this game. My greatest video game memory is associated with it:

When I got the game, I played through it with the goal of getting 100%, so I searched every level with great care. I came across a code that let you play some minigames, some of which were 2-player. Several months later I saw this code in Nintendo Power, and I thought to myself, "You guys are just now finding that? I've known about that for almost a year!"

I've never been so proud (concerning video games).

I like this game. I prefer this over the DS version. The music was cool and it got me in the mood to play. The kiddish design attracts me as well and the backgrounds were pretty good.

Yeah, Miyamoto intended to make something similar to Donkey Kong Country's graphics originally but he hates the game (DKC) and says people only like it because of the graphics (Though, I still disagree with that, I think Donkey Kong Country is just fun) and decided to use this art style, which worked out really well, I must agree.

Yea, I liked Donkey Kong Country but the graphics don't really make it what it is...the gameplay is really fun and reminds me of a Mario game in a way. I don't see why he hates it. I did hear that Donkey Kong Country was said to be better than Super Mario World or some other Mario game...maybe he's sour about that? I don't know...

TBH the one on the GBA isnt really a re-make, more of a Re-Release of the game. Cuz nothings different.

But me personally I LOVE this game
