Review - Brothers in Arms DS

-------------------

I got the game awhile ago now because at the time there were no war games on the DS and have to say how surprised I was. It gets a little repetitive at times but it is generally fun to play. The game is set in different theatres of the second world war that include the Ardennes forest, the desert and the push through Normandy and the missions vary.

Top screen is where the action takes place, bottom is where the option to reload weapon, zoom and change weapons are added.

There are times when you are needed to drive vehicles such as jeeps and even tanks (very fun) in order to progress and it is a nice touch by UBISOFT just to break up the monotony of trawling through the missions shooting Germans. There are limited options on weaponry however, when you go through the game the first time you only have choices between a Thompson sub machine gun, a Bazooka and on the odd occasion a sniper rifle. You can also throw Grenades too and take control of captured German gun emplacements.

I found the game different which is why it appealed to me so much. Ofcouse You would have to be interested in war or guns to like the game and may I just point out that it isn't a FPS, it is actually played in the 3rd person which suits the game better.

Controls:

D Pad - Move character forward and backwards, side to side.
Stylus - Used to move your character in a circle or diagnally.
Stylus - Used to select weapon and throw grenades.
Stylus - Used to zoom weapon in and out.
L Button - Shoot
A Button - Reload

safcrhys verdict:

Graphics: 8/10 - push the DS to its limits
Sound: 6/10 - gumshots etc... nothing else
Length: 5/10 - Will be completed in 5 hours
Replay value: 7/10 - Complete the game and you unlock harder difficulty and new weapons.
------------------
Overall: 7/10 - I would recommend the game to any lovers of action games.

I'm going to do reviews of games in this section of the forum, just something to do with my spare time and help you people decide whether or not you want to get a certain game.

Anyone have any preferences on a game they would like me to review then PM me and I'll get back to you.
