The next virtual reality

There is one thing that sets man and beast apart. One innovates. One invents. One goes and creates ideas that no sane person would ever think of. And the very essence of this is in the Nintendo innovation powerhouse.

Nintendo have came a long way from the humble beginnings of jumpman. They have saved video games outside of Japan, they have sold what is now over half a billion games only based on their first-party franchises. And through those times they have thought outside the box. Any who have tried to shoot the dog in duck hunt will know what I am talking about.

The zapper, the dance pad, the Virtual Boy (the good times had to stop somewhere) the rumble pack, and now the Wii remote. Nintendo even released a console that has a microphone and a touch screen, and a printer add-on!

But where to now? What possibly can Nintendo come up with now to take the video game market by storm?

Nintendo have often turned to the world outside of the video game industry and helped to incorporate these features into their consoles. The Touch screen, among others can thank the technological world around us for its innovative features. But the biggest giver is the virtual reality card.

Virtual reality is about trying to make games more real. More life-like. More closer to the real earth. This is where most gaming peripherals, and ultimately, the strive for the next generation consoles try to perfect. Virtual reality, whether better graphics, more interaction with your in-game avatar, or the feel that you yourself are inside the game is all a part of virtual reality. And it's what Nintendo, among others, have tried to perfect in the last 30 years of video gaming.

Where will this show in Nintendo's next generation? Who knows. Lets just hope it brings us closer to that virtual reality.

The Nintendo's next generation is the WiiHD... So I'm not sure if this is much closer, lol.

The next generation isn't the WiiHD. WiiHD is only an updated version and may not be released as Nintendo is wondering if it's actually worth it.

But yeah, I'm also wondering what could be the next installment of the Nintendo family, though it will be a long time until they need to make a new one.

It the plug in the back of the head. Do any have the matrix box set? The extra dvd has the some good stuff. They say that the matrix isnt very far off. That nano bots in the blood will be able to shut down your senses and program in other ones. Wicked.

The minute games go Virtual Reality, is the day I stop playing video games, cause i don't play video games cause I want them to feel like real life, I play for the fun.

Just imagine, SIMS: Virtual Reality Simulator. Sounds like life to me.

Yes, I concur. The point of video games is to escape reality. Hence high jumpin', princess saving Italians, and really, really fast hedgehogs.

I think their next console will basically be a more powerful version of the Wii. It will basically be whap PS3 is to PS2, with better graphics, a slightly faster processor, maybe a few new controller tricks, but that's it.

they already focused on the gameplay so i reckon it will be the same with the motion control's but you have a choice with a normal control as well, also it will jump to current gen graphics or either the 8th gen graphics.. they will keep the virtual console scheme but i don't reckon they will have a 40 gb hard drive build in cause that's not how they roll and plus the retail price will be ****loads at the end it will be $600AUD where i am.... and about $400USD

Meh I don't think virtual reality is a really good idea...unless they have some kind of technology that automatically reads your mind without some kind of thing on your head then I'm guessing it would be super gimmicky.

Yeah. If a game is exactly like real life, then why not live your life? The reason why people play games is so that they can eacape from real life, and do somethign that they're unable to do in real life, otherwise the game is just boring!!!!
