Sm Mario Wii passes 50 million mark

In early March, Nintendo shipped its 50 millionth Wii unit worldwide. This means that the Nintendo Wii has officially out-shipped the Super Nintendo, making it the 4th best selling home console of all time.

Does this mean that Nintendo has won without doubt? With 100m DS units shipped, and Wii Sports the best-selling console game of all time, there is strong reason to believe so. Either way, Nintendo has also announced the DSi coming out in April. Will this also follow in this line of success?

The DSi will surely not follow the success line, it will get a few sells during it's first week or so, and then people would just stop, it's not worth it.

BTW, pretty cool on the sales Nintendo has been having, I'm so proud of them. *sniff sniff*

The DSi will enjoy success, but it won't have the lifespan of the DSLite. In my opinion, it's already about time for Nintendo to release a whole new handheld. However, the DSi promises DSiWare, which isn't just for games; Nintendo is encouraging people to make apps for it to be available via a service similar to Apple's appStore. And with two cameras and a microphone, and a touch screen, there's bound to be some very innovative apps available for the DSi. People will buy it up. This will finally bury the PSP, which I think is the major concern, here. Maybe people who already have a handheld won't see the need to buy a new one, but for those who don't, and can't decide between the PSP or the DSLite, the DSi will make their decision that much easier.

I don't really see how people care about the DSi when they have a DSLite. I'm pretty sure only mostly Sony fanboys will buy the DSi and throw there PSP in the garbage, if they haven't already.

Why throw away a perfectly good PSP? Honestly, if I had a choice between a PSP and a DSi, I'd choose the PSP.

The DSi is like a PSP really, but that's not my point. I'm just saying why would you buy a DSi when you have a perfectly good DS Lite? A lot of people who have DS Lite want to throw it away for the DSi just because it now has INTERNET!? WTF!?
