Wii Has Lowest User Activity.

Nielsen's State of the Video Gamer study, released Tuesday, indicates that Wii owners use their console less than Xbox 360 and PS3 owners.

The research firm said Wii owners used their consoles 6.8 percent of the total amount of time that they could have used the system during Nielsen's measurement period during December 2008.

This compares to Xbox 360's "Active User Percentage" of 10.2 percent and PS3's 10.6 percent, which both led the way amongst current and last-gen consoles.

In average usage days, Wii trailed all other consoles except for GameCube with five days (GameCube had 4.5 days). PS3 and Xbox 360 were used 6.8 and 7.1 days average, respectively.

Wii also was last in terms of daily average number of sessions with 1.78 sessions, versus 2.42 for PS3 and 2.15 for Xbox 360.

Nielsen noted that Xbox 360 and PS3 have more features (particularly multimedia capabilities) than other consoles measured in the survey, which would lead to more usage.

"Predominant users of the Wii and GameCube are likely to use these consoles at most once a week and for fewer minutes and the fewest number of sessions compared to the other two groups of consoles," the study read.
Thoughts?

This is old news, and also wrong news.

He later corrected his numbers, the Wii is the second most used console.

I haven't played it much recently. Home consoles just get annoying sometimes. I play my DS a lot because I can play it anywhere.

Yea. I don't use my Wii much anymore. I stick the PS3 and XBox 360 most of the time.
Wii's future doesn't look too promising anyways. The game line-up IMO isn't much to currently look at.

Portable systems are seemingly the next and possibly already the big bang in today's times. More possibilities with these babies.

I can understand that. The Wii isn't a hard-core gaming system. The target audience for it are not the people who play video games 24/7. And I know for sure in my house the 360 is played much more often than the Wii. The games for the Wii are disappointing too. I don't think I've played my Wii in several months.

"Well, will you look at that. Looks like Nielsen made a pretty big mistake with their numbers, but the image above shows the corrected information. As you can see, the Wii is actually the second most-played system by January, besting both the PS3 and 360. Looks like we have a bit of a reason to celebrate!"

Wow, is no one even reading this?!

And to that last poster, the none of the systems are targeted toward one single audience.
They all have games for casual or core, the Wii just has an imbalance, as do the other two systems.
They just go in different directions.
Each system has great games, you just have to look.

I have over 20 awesome games for my Wii, and only 3 or so can be considered casual.
