Restoring a Classic (89' Gameboy)

Dont know if anyone has done it before.
But boredom drives you to do some crazy things.

So here we go, i have 9 gameboys in different colours and since i have nothing to do i thought i would "Restore" the white gameboy.

I have started by submerging the battery cover in bleach and it has came out pretty good, this was only after half an hour of submerging, when i strip the gameboy i will leave it in overnight.

Heres the battery cover

These are all HIGH-RES pictures please click to get a better view if you like.

and the gameboy

And here you can see the difference before and after.

Ill have to either make or buy a tri wing screwdriver to strip it and then i can submerge the case in the mixture
I will also be T-Cutting and polishing the scratches out of the plastic screen cover.

Should be pretty fun and look cool when its finished

What do you guys think.

Looks pretty good so far. If you could restore a yellowed SNES, I would be very impressed.

Ausden is an unknown quantity at this point

Still have my original gameboy. And yes, it does work. In fact it works great, the only thing bad is the face plate has come apart but super glue should heal that wound nicely. Good luck on the restoration.

Bleach and cotton swabs and a junk piece of cloth. Will make it look new again.

LEWI007 will become famous soon enough

The bleach whitens it like a dye if i wanted i could dye this gameby any colour i wanted and it would look like it was made that way, as for the screen coming off use wood glue, if you use super glue or model plastic glue it will leave a fog when it dries on clear plastic.

Thank you for the nice comments you guys, im going to try and make a screwdriver to open it today and then i could have it bleached by tonight.

and by the way, yes it works perfect i have another 8 gameboys:

3 yellow
2 crystal or clear
2 original off white with red buttons
1 white with black buttons
1 black with pink logo's

Ive also got some kind of carry case with gameboy written on it and alot of unboxed games and 1 boxed mario game.

Ill have a crack at restoring a yellow one today

Stay tuned guys
