I don't have the slightest clue to be honest. Whatever it is, i hope it's halfway decent. They need it to be >.>

I don't have any confidence that the series will continue.

I love my Samus Aran and Metroid games, but I think no one wants to try messing with the series. I think Nintendo themselves is kind of going to leave it behind since it doesn't fit that well with their current image.

I don't know if that would be a mistake, or their best option. It seems kind of sad how they're leaving their best series behind like that though :/

Well it has long bothered me that they are afraid to make an actual sequel to the game. Nothing story wise has come since Metroid Fusion.

I also think that they are forsaking the old 2-D style. I loved the Metroid Prime series and while Hunters was fun, there is no replacement for the old school 2-D style. It seems that Konami has taken that formula and made it their own with the Castlevania series (and they do an amazing job with it).

Yeah, I see what you're talking about. The 2-d aspect of Metroid was fun as hell. Not that Prime was bad, but it wasn't the same. I hope they never get lazy about sequels with their other series. If they do, they're in some trouble.

I disagree. I think Metroid fits Nintendo's current image perfectly. Right now Nintendo is all about innovation and exploration. The control scheme in Metroid Prime 3 was perfect and Metroid has always been about exploring vast areas.

Nintendo is trying to break away from their "kids only" image, and titles like Metroid and the upcoming Sin & Punishment 2 are going to help them break away from that image.

Personally, I hope they make a sequel to Metroid Prime Hunters, only on the Wii. I disliked the control scheme so much on the DS that I haven't bothered to play Hunters very much, and I'm an avid Metroid fan. With MP3's controls, Hunters could be a killer multiplayer title on the Wii, and the Wii needs that. Mario Kart Wii is fun, but a lot of that game is left up to chance/luck.

As for 2D or 3D, I think that's going to depend on the sucess of the New Play Control Metroid Prime games. If they really take off and people get used to the control scheme, they'll probably make at least one more game with those controls. Hopefully the next DS game will be 2D, though.

Really? Well with the NPC Metroid games coming out, I thought they'd be doing this to build people up for a totally new game.

I think you kind of negated your own point in a way. Metroid Prime 3 was pretty much perfect in terms of control. They have no where to really go with that anymore. What is there to explore. And to be honest, I don't think that there are a lot of development teams that could make a good Metroid game. And now that the one that has worked with it for so long is moving on, what can we expect to have happen to the series. It may be the new Kid Icarus or something in that no one touches it for many years.

Also, while I liked Metroid Prime Hunters, it felt far too much like a game made for FPS fans to be a true Metroid title. Yes it was fun for a while, but when I play a Metroid game, I want it to be about exploring, acquiring power ups, opening up new areas, and fighting bosses with exploitable weak points. Metroid Prime Hunters was more of a run and gun type of thing.

I can't say that I feel those old games will be improved much by adding Wii controls. I liked them a lot, but I guess since I already bought them and played them a bunch there's no reason for me to get them again.

Good point. I never thought of that. It could be to let newbies become acquainted with the Metroid games, before a new big release. (Possibly the one mentioned on a different thread)
