Joy Mech Fight

Anyone ever played this game? Most likely you haven't, because it was released exclusively in Japan. It may look like a rip-off of Capcom's Street Fighter II: The World Warrior and its updates, but it uses a unique way to move the characters around, making them move very smooth. The music is so nice, several fans in Japan made catchy arranged versions of the songs.

During its release, it had the largest roster of characters up until The King of Fighters '98 was released. Joy Mech Fight starts with one character, and 7 to unlock in Stage 1. After Stage 1 is cleared, go back to the menu and beat Story Mode on Hard to unlock 24 characters. Beat Story Mode on Special and you'll unlock the bosses. For a total of 36 characters! However, some characters are clones, and some borrow moves from characters in other fighting games, especially Street Fighter II. Some borrowed moves were given some extra features.

Unlike most fighting games during its time of release (1993), the move commands were made to be slightly simpler and easier to send out to opponents. If you forget any moves, then go to the manual section of the game and select Demo to watch how to do the moves, then select Test to practice doing them before starting the battle.

The game is pretty short to complete, but on Hard and especially on Special, it won't be child's play. It's so fun, it should be requested by many to be released on the Virtual Console during the next Hannibal Festival. The game doesn't require much time for Nintendo divisions outside of Japan to translate nor even remove some stuff that's not right for anyone outside of Japan to catch their eyes on.

Joy Mech Fight, in my opinion, is the best fighting game for the NES (well, Famicom actually, but they are the same).

I've played it. It's pretty fun and pretty challenging when you get to the bosses.
