Angels and Demons

For those of you who don't know, Angels and Demons is the prequel to the Da Vinci Code.

The story follows a Harvard symbologist, Robert Langdon, as he's contacted for his expertise. He's flown to CERN, the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research, essentially the biggest particle physics institute in the world, and the home of the Large Hadron Collider. In this story, some antimatter is used as a bomb to try and blow up the Vatican by an ancient society, the Illuminati, who for four-hundred years have been striving for scientific truth. They have now emerged to continue their sworn vow of destruction against their most hated enemy, the Catholic Church. The reason they are doing this is that this new antimatter technology proves the existence of God, and the Illuminati plan to destroy it and the Vatican by using the antimatter as a weapon. I won't spoil the plot any more, but if any of you wish to read the book, I will tell you one thing:
Spoiler
The camerlengo is the ultimate bad guy
.

So, who thinks this will raise controversy, like it's sister, the Da Vinci Code?

Well, I've been wondering for a long time if they were going to release it due to all the slanders against the Catholic Church. But I went to see it last weekend, and it only had what was necessary to the plot and nothing more.

I rate it a 6/10, because it took out some various minor scenes as well as a MAJOR scene in the book.
Spoiler
The scene where the assassin takes Vittoria to rape her, but Dr. Lagner saves her and kills him. Without this scene, it seemed like it took all the thunder away from Lagner

I agree. I read the book, and was disgusted by the scene omission choices! They didn't even keep in this crucial scene!

Spoiler
They didn't even put in that the Pope was the camerlengo's father!

I heard that the movie kind of sucked. But to answer the question no I don't think it will raise controversy. Wasn't the controversy of the first movie just a lawsuit against Dan Brown for stealing the book from three nuns anyways?

I saw the movie and in my opinion it was very good. I still haven't read the book though. I might check it out this weekend.
Everyone knows the book is always better than the movie. It's very rare when the movie surpasesses the original book from which it came from.
