Berzerk is one of those classic arcade games that was made bu the company Stern. They later became a Pinball only company at the time of the arcade crash of 1984. The last arcade game they released was Frenzy, which was the sequel to Berzerk. Berzerk is also one of the first games to feature full speech and the game talked crap to you. The main bad guy, a bounching smiley face named "Evil Aoto" would call you a chicken and the like if you left the levels when he showed up before destroying all of the robots. Not the most complex graphics in the world, but at a time when everything was trying to be either Space Invaders or Pac-Man, the game was a breath of fresh air.
I'm also putting a link to the Atarim 5200 version video on youtube because that is one of the closest version of the arcade release. If you listen, you might be surprised how clean the dialogue really is for when the game released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8m4nBy7ayI |
