Wii Music is a music-related game for the Wii Series. It is unlike most other music based games, (such as Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and so on), in the way that it doesn't award you points for doing better or worse in performance. There is no particular goal, and the game is less about "Getting the highest score possible", and more about "Having fun". The game tries to aim for this, but doesn't exactly succeed in doing it. Wii Music awards you with extra songs and extra settings to play your songs at by playing songs. There aren't a huge number of songs, but not really small, either. It allows you to play a huge variety of instruments - about 50 or 60 or so. These instruments are easy to learn, and some of them are quite amusing to use, such as the rapper, the beat boxer and the cheerleader. But, after a small amount of time, you'll find yourself becoming bored, since most of the instruments are the same anyway.
When you are playing the instrument with your Wiimote though, it doesn't seem to feel much like you're playing a piano, or a guitar, or a flute - it feels more like you're swinging a remote from side to side. Since there is no real objective, you'll find that it isn't very interesting for a long time, and it isn't very challenging, either. One of the most interesting things about the instruments is that if you have the Wii Fit balance board, you can use it as a drum kit. This is fun, but the Balance Board is less efficient than the Wiimote.
The graphics aren't aiming to be good, and they aren't very good. Nothing seems very realistic, and the instruments don't look very realistic, either. The graphics are very similar to Wii Sports.
The sound is definitely one of this game's worst letdowns. When you are playing a harp, for example, or a trumpet, or any other instrument, it doesn't sound like you're playing that particular instrument. It sounds more like an electronic and synthesized version of that instrument. This is definitely something that Nintendo needs to consider before creating a sequel to this game, or a game similar to this.
Overall, Wii Music is a mediocre music game that is not as good as most other music games. It is reasonably fun, but only for a small amount of time.
This is not an average.
