Project Milo - Fake and the Future?

I am sure everyone saw Microsofts project Natal and the Milo experiment.

Does anyone feel that this was too good to be true? Also, do you believe that for generations to come, games will now truly be a fully natural experience in the home and in the world or is all of this AI/hooked up advancement heading us towards skynet!

People play games to unwind. I'm pretty sure standing in front of your TV and waving your arms around in crazy gestures isn't what people want when they want to unwind.

I don't think it will work out well, but it's too early to tell. And before anyone says "well look at Wii," the Wii allows you to be fairly relaxed for most games, and has something for you to hold onto, giving you force feedback. Also, you generally just need to use your wrists.

I like the idea behind it, don't get me wrong, but it's too early to tell. It should accompany another control scheme, but never replace it.

I do agree with you there. One thing for sure...if the tech is perfected, it will give people a heck of work-out.

As for your comments on the Wii-mote, I strongly agree. Also, now with Motion-Plus, (I have not tried Motion-Plus yet, but from others I have spoken to), they say the the controller really feels fine-tuned.

The only motion controls I see giving Nintendo some type of run is Sony's, which now is slated for Spring of next year. It looked good to me, but Nintendo has a heavy jump in that dept.

I also agree with op89x. Gamers don't want to jump around and get active, they just want to lye in their chair while tapping buttons on their controller.

I love it...sounds like such a simply life!

Actually, in our case, we would be tapping buttons on our controllers and waving the Wiimote!

Casual gamers want simple games. That's why arcades where such a hit. Apart from the odd Defender or DK, those games were easy to learn and simple to control and play.

The Wii is simple. The 360 is aiming towards the hardcore market, not the casual audience with Project Natal.

I'd have to say I disagree with everything except your first sentence. The arcades were a hit because no one had home consoles. And when home consoles came out, the arcades still provided games of the same complexity as home consoles for many years. In fact, because the machines were dedicated to just one game, the arcades could provide bigger, better games than home consoles for years after home consoles came out.

Natal does not seem in any way to target the hardcore market.

I was meaning the concept of them, not their relation to other types of gaming. And maybe they are, but I don't see much head way

I mean the reason arcades were popular in the first place was that they were easy to play, before home consoles and whatnot. And as for the second comment, I was referring to the target audience
