Derek We have a Nintendo Fan in the Making

Best SNES Genre

Which genre of gaming did you think was the best for the SNES?

I know at the time there was a more limited market but I felt that overall the shooter genre (ie Contra, Total Carnage, Jurassic Park) would take the gold.

The SNES had like a billion awesome RPG's for it.

You had Final Fantasy IV thru VI, Chrono Trigger, Secret Of Mana, Super Mario RPG, Breath Of Fire, Dragon Quest, 7th Saga and countless other classic games.

It's hard to pick a single genre that really stands out, but overall I'd go with the general category of action/adventure, so that it would include things like Super Metroid and Zelda. Platformers are also worth mentioning even though there's not a lot of great ones, Super Mario World and the Donkey Kong Country games are good enough to say that the platforming genre still had a good place on the SNES.

I really liked Super Metroid, but I cant stand long games like that, so i never got past half way through the game.

My favourite then has to be pilot wings.

I have it on an emulator on my PSP and its so fun

Even though I never really got into SNES gaming, I would have to say from the few I've played, RPGs...there's just so many to choose from!
