The Ace Attorney series was originally released on the GBA and it was so popular, another 2 games were made, and it was ported and translated to the NDS. Following that, this is the 4th game in the series, and is made for the DS only.
The graphics have improved tremendously from the previous games. Because this game was made for DS and wasn't just a port, the sprites and backgrounds are much more detailed. Also, it also has 3D video cutscenes, which are a great touch when explaining exactly how a crime took place. They are also excellent for a DS. 10/10
Investigations and courtroom trials are much the same as before, with a couple of new features. The evidence examination feature is back, where you can examine your evidence from all angles to see any clues. Some new features have been added as well, such as using scientific gear like X-Ray machines and the such. Apollo also has a perceive system which is similar to Phoenix's "Magatama" from previous games. Gameplay is VERY linear, so some gamers may not like this. Also, once you finish, there is virtually NO replay value. 8/10
This is what keeps the series alive. All previous games had awesome storylines with plenty of twists and turns, and this game is no different. Just when you expect something to happen, the complete opposite occurs. The game is set 7 years after GS3, which is when Phoenix lost his Attorney badge. Through the game, you will find out who Apollo really is, and just how Phoenix came to lose his badge, and a lot more. The characters are also quirky and charming. 10/10
The soundtrack is not as catchy as it was in previous games, but it's almost impossible to match that. It's still great to listen to and sometimes, you will just stop to listen to the music.
A few flaws, but a very well executed game that deserves all the credit it gets.
