How to Get Serious/Hardcore Gamers to Buy and Play more Wii Games

The Wii has pretty much crushed and dominated the casual market. It has brought more young and old gamers to the console market than any other console. It is a huge success.

But it is still lagging a bit with the serious/hardcore gamers, and those are people who spend a lot of money on games.

As a serious gamer myself, this is what it would take for me to buy more games for my Wii:

How to Get Serious/Hardcore Gamers to Buy and Play more Wii Games

What do you think?

I agree with you 100%, especially about the RPGs part. Nintendo needs to pick it up there. Well written article. Gj.

Well, it is getting Tales of Graces and Arc Rise Fantasia. Both of those games are pretty solid RPGs. If only the Tales series were more popular outside of Japan...

I never really thought of Wii Sports as targeting sports fans or for sports fans or anything. It's more of just a party game that features sports like baseball or bowling. I don't think I would substitute it for an actual sports game.

Make more T-M rated games, and less Cooking Mama. Honestly, if Wii had more mature games on its console, I would really think of this as a serious competitor to the 360 and PS3. I mean, the Wii is like the hot-dog vendor in the hamburger world. Competing directly by sales, but indirectly by content.

Lukario, even though I disagree, the analogy is great. The English teacher side of me just loves you right now. Thanks for making my day. Seriously.

Fizzer is an unknown quantity at this point

Nintendo's always been the best producer of "real" games in my books, nobody ever stood up to the likes of Mario, Zelda and Metroid, which are all great hardcore games. These types of games aren't getting played on Wii though, because the console and game range in general doesn't attract the hardcore fans.

The Wii needs some good FPS's, and other types of more mature, hardcore games, to attracts the serious gamers, who would then be much more likely to buy Nintendo's extreme quality stuff.

I'm really sick of the terms "hardcore gamers" and "real gamers".

I definitely don't like the term "real gamers", but I think "hardcore gamers" is a valid term.

My point in this article was mainly what I would like to see on the Wii in order to make me play it more and buy more games for it.
