Metroid: Better as a sidescroller or FPS?

For Metroid fans, do you prefer the sidescrollers like the originals or the FPS ones like the Prime Series?

FPA, baby.

And I disagree with the whole "real" way to play Metroid. To me, Metroid is all about isolation and environment, things that are better represented through a first-person perspective. The only reason I went with sidescrollers is because moving around and controlling Samus is so much easier, especially with things like the Space Jump.

I love both, the series period is just awesome. I like the combat style of Prime but the sidescrolling has some nolstagia for me.

How can it possibly have any nostalgia for you, when Prime was the first game you'd ever played in the series? And if I'm not mistaken, the only game you've played.

Well, I've played the Super Metroid Demo in Brawl and bits of Fusion. 'Tis sort of reminiscent of Contra.
I want the Prime Trilogy for Christmas, as well as Zero Mission and Fusion (I've been researching). Other M also looks to be promising as it combines both FPA and sidescrolling apparently.
