Did you ever wish...

Have you ever been playing a game, and you just love it so much, but it has some tiny little flaw, some little thing that bugs you and you think "Why didn't they add this?" or "Why didn't they change that?", and you know you can't do anything about it, but you let it get to you anyway?

I have quite a few personally.

I can't stand the fact that in Timesplitters 2 there are no hands. I can't stand the fact in TSFP they put in a baseball bat instead of a sword or a combat knife or something sharp and pointy at the very least. I also hate the fact that in Nightfire and Red Faction 2, all characters have the exact same hands on the screen.

I don't know why, but these little things bother me, and sometimes they're what keep me from thinking a game is incredible, and instead putting it in my "Box of shame".

I never figured out why Megaman X7 sucked so much, when they could've kept it 2D/2.5D or use the Legends gameplay

sure, we all think that from time to time. i usually dont let it bother me though

for instance, im finishing up No More Heroes after about a year. at first the lack of polish bugged me. Hideo Kojima likens video games to "services," where in the world they create what the player expects to happen should happen. so if i ram my huge bike into a car or a fence at high speeds, some shit should go down. but in No More Heroes, there are no crash animations, so the motorcycle just comes to a very jerky halt. so in that sense, NMH is a pretty lacking "service." however as parody and satire, it is almost peerless, and i dont let those rough edges get in the way of my experience

also one could argue that the lack of appropriate physics attributes to Suda 51's point, but that's another conversation

There's always something in every game I play. I constantly find myself saying, "this game could be great, if it did this," or, "this game could be great except for..."

Games (well, the best of games) are pretty personal experiences, and therefore it's going to be very rare that someone is completely, 100% satisfied with a game. I think the games that are more remarkable are the ones where I honestly can't think of anything I would change, or any way in which they could have improved. To date I have only encountered one such game.

I don't understand why in Eternal Darkness, half of the character models look fantastic, and the rest look half done.

how the characters in TS3 die in 5 seconds when there on fire at top difficulty but in ts2, they die in like 20 seconds.

That you can't use GC controllers in NSMBW

I don't think like that at all. I don't think about what a game doesn't have. I think about what the game does have, and I enjoy it because of that.
That attitude will end up ruining your gaming experience.

You're right; often times it does. I can't argue with that.

However, it does make you appreciate good games that much more.
