Good DS games for young girls?

Hi all,

First post

I'm about to move to a new basement suite -- I couldn't get use to the long drive to work. The landlords were super nice, so I want to give something back. They have two daughters and a DS, so I want to buy them a couple games before I leave. The oldest is between 6-7 and loves dogs. I'm not too familiar with games for that "target demographic". Can anyone recommend some really good ones? Maybe educational too?

Nintendogs. get them each their own version(there are 4 versions) and they can interact with one another, and play with each other. Plus its a good game that even adults enjoy.

Nintendogs or Animal Crossing - Wild World, AC always goes down well with children.

Yeah, if the oldest is 6-7, those are probably good. You may want to try and find out what games they already have on the DS, though, and get back to us. then we could make a better decision based on what games they already have.

They only have Brain Age

Thanks for the suggestions. One of the Nintendogs titles sounds perfect. Since that one's just a pet sim though, I'm still looking for one more -- one that's a bit educational.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a game that's "educational" in the way most people perceive "educational" games. Brain Age has a sequel, and there are plenty of games out there that try to do similar things.

I think one is called Focus Flash, which helps to improve memory, and there are some games that train you to improve concentration and things like that out there. Forgive me for not knowing their names. However, the associate at your local game store, or perhaps someone on this forum, should be familiar with those titles and be able to give you their names.

EDIT: The Professor Layton series is, from what I hear, somewhat educational and fun at the same time. Also kid-appropriate. I believe it has players solving puzzles and collecting clues in order to solve a mystery.

If the oldest is six or seven, they're probably a little young for boyfriends.

ouch

I don't why people say Professor Layton series would be suitible for kids, the storylines are pretty dark and most of the puzzles would be to difficult for them. Also, sure it would get them using their brains, but Professor Layton isn't educational. Except maybe for a few odd morals.
