DSi Motion Sensor Demo

"Engine Software is a studio based in the Netherlands known for sound technology in titles from both the Nintendo DS and the Game Boy Advance. They recently posted a video demo of their prototype tilt-controlled motion sensor being used with the Nintendo DSi. View below.

How does it work, you ask? No additional hardware actually needs to be installed (such as an accelerometer); instead the demo uses the already built-in DSi camera to detect change in environment. I can seem some problems arising with this, for example, what if you were using the DSi in a dark room? Or a cave? Or underground with the mole people?

Developers of DS titles do have access to cartridges with accelerometers built in, so that shouldn't be an issue later on, but this should work well to give DSiWare more possibilities, that is, until Nintendo releases the new DS system (which, knowing Nintendo, could be for a while)."

Looks like another gimmick to get people to buy a DSi instead of either of the other models.
