Gaming Mags / The New EGM - Any NFF'ers going to subscribe?

Zero is a long-time reader of EGM. And although the magazine sucked pretty hard for the last 5 or so years, it was great from its birth all the up through the late 90's - early 2000's. A very good mag indeed. But for the record, Zero always preferred Diehard GameFAN over anything else, including Electronic Gaming Monthly. What's interesting about this new rebirth of EGM, though, is that it's once again being helmed by Steve Harris, who originally founded the magazine back in 1988. Basically, he's going to relaunch the book in late March, on high-quality print, along with a digital extension known as EGM[i]. Zero has gotten his hopes up pretty high for this and is anxious to see how things will pan out. To be honest, Zero has always felt that magazines shouldn't concentrate much at all on their websites; it kind of defeats the purpose. But alas, in an era where print seems to be slowly dying (at least for things like videogames), it makes sense to keep your options open.

Still being skeptical, Zero only went with the six month subscription for now. But here's to hoping one of those 2-3 inch thick EGM's (like back in the day) lands in Zero's mailbox in late March.

Do any of you still read gaming magazines? If so, which ones, and what is your favorite? Zero still reads Nintendo Power, Play, and PlayStation: The Official Magazine. Nintendo Power, by the way, is better right now than it ever has been, though Zero does miss the old style and layout.

Also, how do you feel about print in general? Will it die off soon, after a while, or maybe you're convinced it will never happen.

Discuss.

I'm subbed to Game Informer. I would say that they would all go virtual, except for 2 things. People like physically possessing items, and money.

I'm glad EGM is comming back, I really liked their reviews and thought they were hilarious.
I also read Game Informer and Nintendo Power(although I haven't liked them lately, their recent Sonic Fanboyism has really been bothering me)

Zero has never cared much for Game Informer, though a friend of his swears it is much better now than it used to be. Zero had a 2 year subscription a few years ago (it came free with the GameStop discount card), but with the exception of a few good issues, most of them were mediocre. One thing Zero has noticed (and appreciates) about them, though, is the fact that they often give great reviews and scores to many games that are, for the most part, very underrated by other publications.
