Game Help

Okay I'm trying to play oblivion on my new Windows 7 Laptop and my system has
2 gigs of ram
2.2 ghz processer
64 bit operating system
220 gigs hardrive space

I've read somewhere I need to download Directx, so I did and got the Microsoft DirectX SDK (February 2010)
After that, trying to play oblivion still would seem slow
My computer does reach the system requirments for the game.
So what should I do? are there any settings I need to use in the DirectX?

usually in pc games you can turn down the quality of the graphics to make it run faster. Like turning off shadows, water reflexion that kind of stuff, or you could turn down the visual graphics.

It could also just be that one part your on, I remember when I bought Beyond Good and Evil for my PC a few months ago, it was super slow (laggy) in the beginning, but once i got passed that one part it was 100% fine

Oh so, how would I turn that off? In the game itself?

Usually it's in the menu in options, or in the ingame menu somewhere
you don't want to just turn off the graphics, which I don't think would be possible o.O unless you mean like water reflexions and shadows and all that stuff. Some games don't let you turn that stuff off, but some do =/
