data retrieval?

I mentioned in another thread that my red dead Redemption save file is missing. I know you can download save files on sites like www.gameFAQs.com, but how do you actually get them on your console and working?

Actually,I noticed they don't have any saves for the 360 version up, but that is beside the point.

What you will need is an Xbox 360 Data Transfer Kit. There are two ways to get one. The first way is through buying a harddrive (they only include it on the older hard drives so if you have the slim console you're SOL.) The other way is by dialing 1-800-4MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269) and going to the hardware dept. From there, tell them you need a data transfer kit, and they'll send you one for something like $15. Although you have to give them a shipping addreess and it takes about 2-3 weeks for it to be delivered.

EDIT: OR, you can buy just the cable online from Amazon. They are very cheap, like 5-10 dollars plus shipping. A regular USB will also work, too.

EDIT: Before you do that, have you checked to see if the save is still on your hard drive. It could have disappeared and is still there. Go to the System Setting, select Memory, your HDD, then look for RDR and see if your save file is still there. If there's a yellow exclamation point around it, then it's corrupted and you're SOL. If not, use a USB and just transfer it from your hard drive to your USB, and then load the save from that and see if you can play it. This will work if you get a gamesave off of the internet, too.

Then you can still use USB for game save transfers. The cable is meant for migrating data from one hard drive to another, but it's also good for putting game data on the computer.

Instead of potentially wasting money and your patience why don't you just replay the game? It's not like RDR is that difficult if you know what you're doing.

a game is there to be played. if it's a good game, it should be worth playing again
it shouldn't be a chore. it's meant to be, you know, fun
