Question How do you fix a Nintendo 64?

Well? I want to play Chameleon Twist 1 and 2 again, but I don't see them on the Virtual Console (not that I have any points)... I'll have to buy them and some new controllers (the control stick on the ones I've got don't work well enough to use for playing games other than Pokemon Stadium 2 or whatever), but my N64 is going out (Odd, because my NES and SNES still work).

How would I go about fixing it myself? I think something inside is worn down or something.....

Well, since you didn't give a specific problem I really can't come up with anything. I suppose it could be the pin connector....

Well, the problem is that it doesn't come on 90% of the time, despite being plugged in to everything it should be. The power light comes on as normal, but then to get picture and sound it takes FOREVER. We've switched the TV already, so it's not that...

Hit the console and try again.
If it still doesn't work shut down the console and wait ten minutes.
Hit the console again.
If you encounter this problem once more repeat all the past procedures until the problem is fixed.

That's what I'd expect to read in a nintendo booklet troubleshooter.

I do all that already...

Maybe I should invest in a cleaning kit, see if that works....

Cosmic Dust is an unknown quantity at this point

Nothing more frustrating than an intermittent problem, sometimes it works-sometimes it does not,if its not dirty cartridge edge connectors (fold up a piece of A4 paper several times until its rigid and rub the connector inside the cartridge to remove dirt),then its something either internal with the console or a loose connection with the pluggin power supply

First off. If you open up your 64 dont disconect anything and say "I think this shouldnt be here" because there you will end the life of your 64.

WiiU ID: vcube1234
Take it apart, clean it out, and try it then. It worked for me. Oh yeah, dip a credit card in rubbing alcohol and put it in the pin connector.
