oscalyn is an unknown quantity at this point

How do I download older nintendo games onto my laptop?

I have seen many people with old nintendo, super nintendo, etc games like mario and zelda on their computers. Where can I get these games from for free?

I used to have them a long time ago (I remember i needed a snes application + the game file) but I dont remember exactly how i got it.

You have to use an emulator.

www.coolrom.com

after downloading the emulator, you need to download the ROM file for the game.

any more explicit you wont get it. it also depends on wich games you want. I for example havent found a gamecube (and newer consoles) emu but for the rest it is easy to find.
in coolrom (link from SGC) you can find everything.

I personally use http://www.dgemu.com for getting ROMs. They carry a lot of the retro ROMs (the newest system they have is Nintendo DS.) As for the emulators, there are a lot out there, so finding those should not be a problem.

If you're fine with using torrents, there are a lot of places that will have packs of games and an emulator. I'd throw out links, but I'm still too new. Demonoid is where I got mine, and it also came with a front end program that has a list of games, a description, and launches the emulator with the game already loaded.

torrents aren't really necessary unless you are burning cd games. Even then, I didn't really use torrents.

Unless you're wanting to get every game released on a system in 1 shot. Or, in my case, everything for a few systems in one shot.

well, then I can understand but for things like nes-n64 its easy enough to just find the roms on a site. It's not very difficult.
