Does Nintendo still carry a stigma?

Nintendo has always had the misconception that their consoles are for children. I had hoped that with the Wii's success, as well as titles like The Conduit, and No More Heroes, that this would change.

I just got off the phone with my dad(ex sonytard, now a microsoft fanboy). I told him I was going to go get my 3DS tomorrow, and that I hoped they had enough. His response wasn't "Cool, what game are you getting?" or anything like that. It was "Why are you getting that kids crap? That systems for kids."

So, do you think Nintendo still carries that stigma?

It still carries that label big time, trust me. Everyone thinks so. Me, I don't really care.

It definitely still carries it, though Zero never agreed with it. It's just uninformed or inexperienced people forming opinions when they don't know what they're talking about. Either that or they are simply narrow-minded.

Yes unfortunately it does, especially with the gaming community these days.
If people were smart, they'd know that Nintendo is a company geared towards everyone

That's the problem. When you say 'everyone', you include children. Therefore everyone gravitates to the lowest common denominator in this situation: the children.

It's may be upsetting for you to be called childish, but don't think you are. In my opinion, by respecting games made for everyone, you show a bit of maturity, in the fact that you also respect the populace that will play that game, be they small children or elderly folk.

it always will have that stigma. as much as you try to fight it the vast majority of games on nintendo consoles are family friendly, not to mention all the shovelware aimed at young kids.

IF anything, Microsoft aims itself more towards children. How many old people do you know that play on Xbox Live? Not all that many, if I remember the statistic, it is that 95% of XL users are 26 and under. Based on gaming experience, most are 13 or younger. You can't play a game without their being a 13 year old chatting about how "leet" they are, and how you are a faggot, and telling you how your mother gets around because she secretly looks like this:

I'm sorry to say it, but every 13 year old in the world has done nasty things with your mother, because she is sadly a desperate pedophile.

If only you were lying. At least on WFC people cannot talk, so it doesn't matter how old a player is.

The thing is, Nintendo is a console for kids, but not a kid's console. Most of the games are in the E-T range, and there are very few M rated titles. Because of that, the game is obviously more appealing to children than adults who may like a little more action than a pillow fight. Personally, I do not care what other people think about Nintendo because. in the end, they still have the best first-party games.
