So what's with the US and Canada?

So I've been thinking.
How is it that we are constantly bombarded with news all around the globe and I have yet to receive any ctitical news pertaining to Canada?
I dunno. It's just that, when you live in a very critical time in the world where critical news pertaining to countries around the globe develop like wild fire you start to wonder what's happening in good ole' quiet Canada.

Pretty much. Canada doesn't ever do anything worth freaking out about. They're too nice.
If we nuked them and told them we're sorry they would probably forgive us.

Canada is just peaceful bottom line. Other than that we are pretty much similar to the states other than a few key things.

We don't do anything worth freaking out about, yeah. We are MASSIVE trading partners with the states however and some other countries but the states is the big one obviously since they are right below us. Mainly the USA is after trading with our lumber and oil industries, yet there is more to say about that, but I'm just giving the bigger examples.

Crime is very, very low in comparison to the states which is obviously a good thing. I think my City had like 17 murders in the year a few years ago and that was some sort of record for either BC or Canada, I don't exactly remember. I don't know stats but I'm assuming somewhere like new york gets hundreds of murders every year.

Population is another thing. I'm going to use the states again since they are the ones I can compare to the best. Check the numbers:

Canada: 33 Million People
United States: 307 Million People

Being as that the USA is smaller area-wise, that is an astronomical difference. Pretty sure some US states have almost as many people in that state that we do in our country:

Canada: 33 Million People
New York: 20 Million People
California: 37 Million People

Compared to our provinces is just even more of a difference:

Alberta: 4 Million People
British Columbia: 4.5 Million People
Ontario: 13 Million People

Those are 3 of our 4 highest populated provinces and let me remind you that the states has like 51 states or something while we have 10 provinces and 3 territories. Canada is bigger than the states by about 300 square kilometers too! (Woo, second largest Country :P)

So yeah. But that doesn't entirely explain much other than we have far less people over the same amount of land. Why we aren't central in the news? I don't know. the USA just has dominance over the new headlines throughout most of the world probably because they are richer? That's my best guess. Richer and more population, seems to make sense.

I can just speculate as well. Another major difference is politics. I shouldn't say major since we both have Democratic governments that are very similar but one stupid thing we have is the stupid majority rule where places like Ontario and such get more seats in government than all of western Canada combined where as the states gets 2 senators in each state. So basically Quebec and Ontario Decide everything which is complete BS in my opinion. All political parties have to do is offer a lot to the east while giving the west nothing and then the government is decided.

On that note Political Parties is another huge difference. In the states for federal government, you have the Republicans, and you have the Democrats.(I don't claim anything to be fact here it's just what I know that you are either republican or democrat in the states and you generally remain that way which is not the case here.) Those are the two parties that compete in politics. Here we have something like 17 political parties which may sound like a lot but really anyone can create a federal political party with the right means to do so. So obviously we really only have 4, and sort of a fifth. We have the Liberals, The Conservatives, The NDP, The Bloc Quebecois, and you can count the green party if you want but they only have like 12 seats in parliament. whoever gets the most seats based off how many ridings in the country they represent is the party that gets in power. Currently, (This is off rough memory) the conservatives have 144 seats, the liberals have 74, the NDP have 40 some, the Bloc Quebecois have 14, and the green party has 12.

I'm not going to take time to get into all the physics of that but basically those are the differences between the states and Canada.

My head exploded, but you made some good points.
All that could have been reduced too, we have bigger space yet less people work that one out.
