Trading Card Games

Decided to make a TCG thread because I know at least a few of us here play them. i myself play Magic: The Gathering, and to a lesser extent Yu-Gi-Oh.

I bought a Mirrodin besieged booster pack today(Magic) and pulled a Darksteel Plate. I was all w00t and stuff.

Since I brought up Magic, anyone think the new poison/infect status is cheap and needs to be reworked? Someone with luck of the draw and good enough deck building skills can end a match in 11 turns with an infection deck.

Poison effects in any game are always teetering on the useless/overpowered line if you ask me.

As for me, I only really played Yu-Gi-Oh. Professionally at a point. Not anymore though. I can't afford to.

Well, in MTG the poison/infect status was only just added in a recent expansion in which the land of Mirrodin is plagued by a zombie-ish form of black plague basically. Well, there are many cards that through direct or indirect emans put 1 infect counter on a creature of player. for creatures, it simply weakens them and reduces their stats. However, when applied to a player it simply counts as 1 poison counter. if you receive 10 poison counters, you die.

It just pisses me off that someone can put 5 poison counters on me, and then use a card that doubles counters and end the match.

Yu-Gi-Oh, while different from MTG, is essentially a simplified form of it.

That would explain a lot. My brother introduced to both series the same way, but I never knew what the hell I was doing when I played MTG in the first turn(just like every other trading card game I've played that's not YGO)

Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, duelmasters.

I had so many cards.
Sadly, they're what made up most of my childhood.

Fun Fact: My brothers got into the pokemon phase as kids until our sister went and chewed up all the cards.

I play Yugioh 5ds on Xbox live arcade, but hardly. I got it because my friends IRL wanted me to and for that reason I can enjoy it but its so mediocre trying to grind against AI for cards. That and it's a bit too much to take in and memorize sometimes.
