Smilie Waluigi AotA's Adventures in AmericaLand

So I've been in America for a few weeks now, and I've got some things to say about it all, so I thought I'd make a thread.

WHY ARE ALL YOUR GAMES SO CHEAP?!
I had to stock up on DS games because that's the only system I own that isn't region-locked. In Australia, Mario Kart DS is pre-owned for $70. Here, it's new for not even half that. I almost collapsed when I saw Dragon Quest IX for $35, as opposed to $80.

YOU VALUE PREVIOUS CONSOLES
In Australia, they stopped selling GameBoys almost as soon as the DS Lite was announced. I walk into a GameStop, and there were about 10 GameBoy Advance SPs for sale, with games for $8 and under. I love your game stores.
I ended up buying a whole PS2 here, and bought loads of cheap, pre-owned games.

VEGAS
Never have I seen such an accurate reflection of a stereotype. Vegas truly is all about sex and gambling. If there aren't prostitutes on the side of the road, it's a man handing out flyers starring provocative or downright naked women. My hotel (like most in Vegas) had a huge casino downstairs, which was flooded with cigarette smoke 24/7, and skimpy waitresses cried inside after having to flirt with elderly casino-dwellers. However, I bought some Sonic slippers there, which indicates it has a lighter side.

HOLLYWOOD SUCKS

Among the biggest disappointments I've experienced in the USA is Hollywood. The dazzling lights, the celebrities, the beautiful people, the amazing buildings: where are they? All I found was a cluster of sleazy streets, inhabited by sweaty Middle-Easterners selling faulty appliances.

HOT TOPIC
Why do we not have this store in Australia? I thought I was going to have a fit when I saw all the Nintendo and Invader Zim merchandise. The pop-culture references were staggering, and I felt like purchasing everything humanly possible. To further explain how I feel about hot topic, picture a cow. This cow is young, ignorant. He has also gone without grass his entire life. Instead, he is fed grass powder. Then, after <insert my age here> years, the cow is moved to a paddock, full of lush grass. The cow is then moved back to his previous home, where he is fed grass powder.

BOOBS. EVERYWHERE.
What is with your country and cleavage? Sure, my grasp of your country is limited considering I've only been to the tourist areas, but still! There has not been one day where I haven't seen a pair of female nipples. If it's not a bare chest, it's a revealing V-neck or bikini. It's astounding how much confidence your women have (even when the many shouldn't have it).

"Aloha"

Never have I seen/heard such exploitation of a culture. Yes, I'm in Hawaii. You don't need to keep reminding me every three seconds. To make things worse, each hotel employee/cashier says it as if "Aloha" is some obscure pop-culture reference, and needs to translate it afterwards.
The markets in Hawaii all have the same stereotypical stock. Dashboard hula-dancers, Hawaiian shirts, shark-tooth necklaces. There, I just summed up four hours of shopping. The only thing I found that wasn't condoning a horribly inaccurate stereotype was a T-shirt that had Batman saying something in Japanese, while Japanese exclamations exploded nearby.

More to come as I experience it.

Hot topic is amazing. Despite all the ridicule it receives from ignorant consumers.
Tbh, though. Women aren't as revealing elsewhere in America. But, like you said, you visited mainly the tourist attractions. And what attracts tourists? Tittays of course!

You people are lucky to have a Hot Topic. I must live in the boonies or something, because I only get my Nintendo print shirts at Wal-Mart.

I loved your adventure so far, AotA. I hope you like America so far. Aloha. :3

Yeah, America has cool stores, and sucks otherwise, especially when it comes to our general populace.

Also, I don't know why no one has said this before.

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

It'd be cool if you took some snaps at the sites and showed us. Not all of us have been to Las vegas y'know.

1. Because we likely impose little to no tariffs on Japan, so imports are a lot cheaper.

2. We value money, no old consoles.

3. I was in Vegas this past weekend and I couldn't agree with you more. When I was walking down the strip about twenty-five people (all looked like illegal aliens to me) handing out cards for hookers. Did you get to see the fountain at the Bellagio? It's pretty neat.

4. I could have told you that Hollywood is nothing more than a tourist trap. Other than people who live locally, almost everyone who visits Sunset Blvd. is a tourist. Did you see any people handing out fliers for timeshares? Did you at least get to see the iconic Hollywood sign?

5. Hot Topic is largely associated with goths, emos, and scenesters. I just think they're largely overpriced. I have bought a few items from there, but a $50 Mario sweater is not my idea of a bargain.

Everything else, no comment from me. Enjoy your time in the states.
