To all "hardcore" Pokemon fans

Ok, first off, if you are the type of player I'm talking about in this post, don't take offense. I just want answers.

So, I consider myself a hardcore Pokemon fan. I've been playing since I was 10, and I love most of the games, etc, etc. there are many other people, however, that would say I'm not hardcore enough, because I don't breed pokemon for hours to make the perfect mudkip with stats over 9000. First off, why do you need to do that? Secondly, where do you even find the time to do that? It takes long enough just to level a Pokemon up to an appropriate level.

So, yeah, that's pretty much my question...WHY?

At the level they're playing at, you can't win if you don't do that, so that's probably part of it. Also, they might enjoy it? It isn't a crazy concept.

Is this a joke thread? The answer is quite obvious: they want their Ratata to be in the top ****ing percentage of all Ratatas.

I like shorts more than Ratatta. They're comfy and easy to wear!

This. And what Rin said. If you're a competitive battler, EV training/breeding for IV's, moves, and natures for your Pokemon is basically mandatory now if you want even a slim chance to win. And well, humans like to win. Simple as that. As for the time thing, it is very tedious. Most use AR's and cheats to get the IV's and EV's set, but the "hardcore" players spend hundreds of hours raising their team the legit way.

And I SWALLOW SLUDGE TO TRANSFORM MYSELF.

I soft reset for the right natures and IVs for my legendaries like Giratina, Dialga, Palkia, and Reshiram. I use smogen to get suggestions on a good moveset as well a ev training my pokemon. It took me three days to get a good Reshiram and more for Giratina(Distortion World)

Legal hacks, pokémon online.

There are also easier ways to get your pokémon to be 'perfect.' For 4th gen at least, RNG let's you get perfect legit shinies in only 10 minutes with experience. After that the tedious parts are leveling and EV training.

If I would put me in one of these categories I would be the softer of the hardcores!

On topic: What Mikemature said is totally right. These people are the guys we call nerds. Don't take any offense I am a nerd too, but these guys are the inpolite ones as well.

You are hardcore and never let anyone take that away from you! :P

WAIT IDIOT. DONT START ON ANOTHER CATEGORY AND CATEGORIZE THEM AS NERDS.
that would be this:
-commomn people
-nerds (people who are good at school and are categorized as this. most of the below are also nerds but not necesarly)
-gamers
-geeks (this includes if you like a movie or something and know so much about it. like me with star wars)
-people with out a life, friends, hated by their parents, margined and reolve to bullism in VG. (in other words sad people and most of the trool population)

so please do not use the word nerd.
