Snes ac adapter help

Hi

I just got a snes from a friend, so far I just have 1 game. The game seems to work fine except for one thing, when I disconnect the power cable from my wall and reconnect it, my saved files get erased. While the ac adapter is connected I can turn my snes on and off and my saved files are still there. It only erases them when I have to disconnect and reconnect my power cable. So anyone know if it's the game or the cable? Thanks

The cable seems like an unlikely cause. It won't hurt to try using another cable, but it just doesn't sound right.

Try saving a game to a cartridge, then REMOVE THE CARTRIDGE before unplugging it. Plug it back in, and see if the data is still there.

I'm looking forward to the solution to this, as I've never heard of the problem...

Tried this but still had the same problem. Is it safe to say its just the game? Was hoping to get another rpg but wanted to make sure my snes is good to go.

It sounds likely that it is the game.

Sorry been busy, but after messing with the game some more the saved files disappear even if i leave the power cable connected. After some research I learned that snes games use batteries to save, so i'm guessing my games battery is dead, which sucks because now i'm scared this will happen again if i get another game.
