Borders & barnes and nobles going out of buisness

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/1852...-discounts.htm

This is kind of old: I heard about this about a month or two ago (i dont remeber) yes, bookstores all aorund the US are going out of buissness and leaving alot of people jobless.
Why??? People now a days prefer electronic books in ipads, smart phones, etc, etc.
Even more. There is an electronic book, AKA Kindle

it doesnt use light so you dont get weary of reading it, it uses a specil pigment that makes it look like ink, it isnt pixels. You actually need light to read it. if you cannot read a book, you cannot read it.
When I first heard of it I thought it was a lie but then a friend of mine showed it to me and...it is true.

Borders, barnes and noble, and other shops are going online to sell more books so they close up their stores.

So discuss. What do you think aboiut this phenomena??? Do you think it is ok for the Kindle to be the new "book"????.

I personally like the idea and it motivates me to buy one but, there is no comparison on buying a new book and smelling it (bookworm talking). I love handling a book and reading it.

They're also inefficient now, especially with the fact that most readers can hold several hundred books at once, and they don't have to use 300238 metric tons of paper to make them.

I welcome the Digital Revolution(lol)

It's a win-lose situation for me. On one hand, going digital will mean that I can have tons of books on a device capable of using e-books, and therefore eliminates the need of having all sorts of books lie around the house.

On the other hand, I loved going into Borders just to look around and find books that catch my eye. It was like a treasure hunt.

Oh well. I'm not much of a reader anyhow, so I guess I'm not part of the market impacted by all this.
