Disappearance of The Blue Bomber

Disappearance of the Blue Bomber
The Loss of a Gaming Icon.

For your Listening pleasure

With the recent cancellations of both Megaman Universe and Mega Man Legends 3(D.A.S.H 3) many fans of the series find themselves wondering what has happened to Capcom. Is Capcom trying to alienate their fans by getting rid of the Megaman series? And does this have anything to do with the departure of Keji Inafune?

The recent cancellation of MMLegends 3 for the 3DS has caused one of the biggest fan backlashes in the 31 years of videogaming. Capcom has seemed to lost grips on what really matters in videogames, and that is the fans. They have left out two characters who were voted the highest to appear in MvC3 as DLC characters, and are still missing in Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, a revamp that comes less than a year after the initial release. These characters were the fan favorites, Mega Man X, who has always been a fan favorite for a fighting game, but has yet to appear in one, and Venom, a veteran from MvC2.

It would seem if it isn't a fighting game, or have to deal with Zombies/Zombie-esque creatures, Capcom has no interest in it. In the last two years Capcom has put out Six fighting games(counting UMvC3 at the End of the year), 3 ports of fighting games for PSN and XbLA, five Zombie games(counting fourthcoming Operation Racoon City, Revelation, and DR2 Off the Record), 1 Retro Megaman game, and 1 new Megaman game. Four of those games are rehashings. So it is to say that things look bleak from here, Capcom becoming no better than Activision with its CoD and Plastic Instrument games.

All hope is not lost though. Jeff Janes, a hardcore MegaFan has provided a central hub for those who want to see Legends 3(www.legends3.com). Also on Capcom Unity, they left the Development room open for Legends 3, fans going their in droves to become loyal Servbots. Although the PR department keeps reusing the same announcement that all staff on the project have been moved to other projects. Several fan pages on Facebook have spawned such as 100,000 strong for Mega Man Legends 3.

Mega Man 2 was the first game I had ever played, and I don't want to see the franchise die. As OmegamanZX has stated in the description of his video as well, we fans can make a difference. If we stand tall, we may be able to stop Capcom from going down the dark road of creating the same bleak and similar games as other companies(we are looking at you Activision).

Lets all pray that Capcom sees the general outcry they have caused, and correct it before it is too late. Thank you all for reading through this. And I also apologize for the link Mods, it goes with the article, and if you don't like it, you can remove the entire article. Anyone who would like to help the cause can go there, because the site itself branches off the other sites to help the cause.

I really like this article you posted. I think one of the factors for Capcom's recent blunders is the fact that they've been trying to appeal to western audiences, which could easily be done with Street Fighter, MvC, and Resident Evil, but for Megaman, is somewhat debatable.

I think this says all that needs to be said about Capcom's handling of Mega Man.

To be fair, it is not Capcom who didn't allow Venom to get into the game, but Marvel themselves. Fans have been clamoring for the "Eddie Brock" version of Venom, the one that appeared in MvC2, but he's just not relevant anymore in Marvel's eyes. There has recently been another Venom that sprouted up in the comics, so if any incarnation of the character would have a chance of getting in, it would be him.

Other than that, nice article. :3

Marvel is into fan service, and note that Eddie Brock as been Venom in the last few games put out as well. And in the Ultimate Series, Venom doesn't switch to a new host.
